  1. Keith Hernandez doesn't buy the Bryant hype.
  2. Yikes, that was not a good AB. Bunted through and swung through strike fastballs.
  3. Yep. I can't stand Keith Hernandez.
  4. Lester hit one of their batters in the ankle.
  5. Lester has the best swing of any of our pitchers not named Wood. That hit is coming SOON.
  6. For the most part, I don't mind the whole personal catcher stuff since Montero needs a day off every fifth day or so anyway, and I really don't mind Ross as a backup. However, this is one of those times it's extremely annoying, coming after a team off day Monday and facing a lefty yesterday. Montero's had two days off and because of that could handle the day game tomorrow even if he starts tonight. I'm sure we'll see Ross though.
  7. He's right on Rizzo's tail for the team lead in fWAR. 2.9 to Rizzo's 3.2. Bryant is 10th among 3B in UZR/150 and 6th in pure range. And as Olney tweeted a couple days ago, he's made like one error in the last month.
  8. Probably mostly because Almora, Hanneman, and McKinney are already there. Although I guess they could rotate at DH. Yeah I think they could. I thought they were going to bump Zagunis up after the Schwarber promotion, which opened up the DH spot that Contreras and Schwarber were sharing.
  9. 16.5% BB rate, 13.3% K rate, .443 OBP. I'm not sure why Zagunis isn't in AA yet.
  10. I'm surprised Maddon would go through three relievers in a 1-0 game and not use Grimm, but Motte keeps getting results.
  11. Why exactly? Not everyone hates him with a fiery passion. I don't hate him. I don't even dislike him. Doesn't mean I know why someone would feel bad for him He's struggling terribly and it's his first time being on a good team. He probably feels shitty about that. I dunno, I can see it I guess.

  13. Would Maddon pitch Ramirez in the 9th in only his second game back? I'm thinking we'll see Motte or Grimm.
  14. That 3-0 pitch was extremely low. Addison should be on base.
  15. Let's not even mess with the RISP stuff and just mash dongs.
  16. Since there's a platoon and a personal catcher situation, I'd assume Ross plays a little more than the normal backup catcher.
  17. Against a lefty, we don't really have a good cleanup hitter. Probably shouldn't be Castro, but it's not like Denorfia, Szczur, Ross, or Russell are great hitters themselves. We really miss Soler vs LHP.
  18. Ehh, he hasn't played a single game in CF this season. They've shown the willingness to rotate Almora and Hannemann in CF, and I'm sure Mckinney, easily the best prospect of the three, would've been given a shot to play there if they thought he had the slightest chance of sticking.
  19. Hopefully news breaks tomorrow that Mozeliak orchestrated the hack and they get severely punished and we can laugh at them.
  20. We might need to make a "Montero has the yips" thread.
  21. Wood's unavailable and Jaxon pitched two innings last night. No idea how we'd cover at least 8 innings if Hammel can't go. Just hope that he can, I guess.
  22. I kind of doubt they'll add anything more than a bench type. Castro's been awful, but I'm assuming they'll give him time to turn it around until Baez returns. Schwarber will be up on August to play some LF. No room for a big addition unless someone gets hurt. I don't really see them taking Castro, Fowler, or Soler out of the lineup. I'd much rather they make a move to get a solid bat for LF. Coghlan's been good, but go for someone who isn't a platoon player and can provided more everyday value and impact. Combine that with Soler coming back and now the bench is upgraded with Coghlan and Denorfria available off of it more often. If they really are determined to have Schwarber stick at catcher I'd rather just keep him down and focused on playing at that spot than sidetracking him with a stint in LF. A Coghlan/Denorfia platoon is pretty good. Finding someone clearly better than that would be a) difficult and b) really expensive. I dunno, I think we're kind of "stuck" with what we have, offensively. Hope Castro, Soler, and Fowler turn it around. Also, Schwarber wouldn't do any catching in September anyway, so missing half a month of reps in August at catcher to move to LF probably isn't a big deal.
  23. why the [expletive] did they start this game at 7:50
