  1. Slappy Lindor gets a pull shift?
  2. Fowler and Bourn aren't all that similar. Bourn's game depended entirely on his speed, while Fowler can actually hit and has more on base skills. Bourn has a career 8.4% BB rate, .332 OBP, and .093 ISO. Fowler has a career 12.3% BB rate, .363 OBP, and .149 ISO. Sure, he benefited from Coors Field (though he did put up an OBP over .370 as an Astro) but he has more offensive skills to fall back on than Bourn had/has. Just hopefully he doesn't go back to being terrible in CF.
  3. I hadn't thought much about Quintana. Would definitely do Baez+ for him. Though given his age, great contract, and recent performance, that + would have to be something significant.
  4. You're right, but if I can count Schwarber as an outfielder, Soler might be the 4th best corner outfielder on the team. There's my hot take for the evening. Is it really okay to call Schwarber better than Soler at this point? I know Soler is off to a slow start, but I didn't know Schwarber had surpassed him. I think Schwarber will get on base more and generally be a better hitter. No idea what type of defense he'd provide in the OF. I think Soler will improve, but he showed weaknesses I didn't know he had.

  6. Nationals wouldn't be in the playoffs if the season ended today. Before the season, I thought they were the best team assembled within the past ~5 years.
  7. I remember really liking the Schwarber pick because I thought he was possibly the best hitter in the draft and with the success our previous college hitter was having. However, I did want Gray instead of Bryant the year before.
  8. Just thinking about that Bryant GS.. Herrera was available, that was maybe a little bit mean Maddon allowed Bryant to hit.
  9. Bryant hit a 78 mph fastball about as far as you can possibly hit one.
  10. After all of the plays tonight (Castro's mishap in the first inning, Schwarber's triple, Rizzo's "double") they give that an error when it wasn't even touched?
  11. My bold prediction doesn't count since Marcum only pitched two innings.
  12. Get the DH in the NL for [expletive] sake. Also, Kyle Schwarber is going to do mean things to the PCL. Those junkballers don't stand a chance.
  13. That's the best play Russell's made and he's made some great ones.
  14. There will be position players pitching in this one.
  15. That was clearly going to be foul. Thanks, pitcher.
  16. As surprising as Bryant's lack of dongs is, I'm almost equally surprised at how well he's played defensively. Rizzo's saved him, but I was really expecting him to be a butcher over there. I also wasn't expecting a .400 OBP right away, so I guess everything he's done has caught me off guard.
  17. Bold prediction: Old Man Ross goes deep tonight. Has always had power and Marcum's (lack of) velocity will be good for his old man bat speed.
  18. Jesse Rogers says it's not serious. Hopefully he's right, but what happens if Montero gets DL'd? I'm assuming they'd just call up Lopez and Schwarber would still go to Iowa..
  19. He's awesome and has exceeded my expectations so far, but a sub .200 ISO (.184 to be exact) through 54 games is really shocking. His lowest ISO (other than the two game stint in AZ) in the minors was .324.
  20. Really surprised he's hitting 8th, but w/e. Makes sense if Maddon wants to alternate R/L/R/L I suppose.
