  1. Fantasy teams and meatheads.
  2. The simple answer to that is to go to a 16-team format. I don't know if that's the right answer, but the format should be the question, not whether or not to go to a playoff system at all. Which leads to teams losing 1/4 of their games and getting in. Or consistently [expletive] teams like whoever wins the MAC, C-USA, or Sun Belt getting in every year. And those 3-4 three loss teams (if that many) will get knocked out in the first round. Or if they go further, then they'll have earned their way. Or you could go to 12 teams (if that'll work) and get no more than 1 3-loss team in each year. So you don't mind the regular season importance being reduced so greatly? No more than 8, which can't be done without Big 6 auto-bids = no playoffs.
  3. Ben Sheets!!!!!!!!!! Oh please oh please oh please oh please!!! Sheets would definitely be a nice pick up, i'd rather have sheets than Harden. Both are injury prone and can go on the DL at any given moment but at least when healthy, sheets isn't a 5 inning pitcher. Exactly! Plus, Sheets has had the surgery. Harden has not had the surgery. Wait, so coming off surgery is better than not coming off surgery? 5 innings robble robble
  4. Amen, too bad Fox isn't around to play third on Aram's off days. That would be some entertaining baseball. Can't have Jake around, he said he liked Bradley, and that he was helpful towards him when he came up. Ergo, Jake Fox is also a cancer.
  5. That would be fine with me. But Milton isn't without blame here. He needs to change his attitude a bit and at least have a professional relationship with teammates and other Cubs employees. Sounds like Bradley had a professional relationship with most of his teammates.
  6. So he thinks all he has to do is put in a few years, regardless of whether he shows any acuity for the job at all, and his name will do the rest? Eff that. He's also getting kicked out of games and sacrifice bunting. Oh and won a division title last year with a team that was like 2 games over 500.

  8. Has Sisco been hurt the last 2 seasons? There's nothing on br about him in '08 or '09(after disasters in '06 and '07)
  9. Red Sox picking up 9M of the 12M owed to him.
  10. I'm pretty sure I'd be pretty pissed if I was Bama this year and saw Georgia Tech win it all because they are in a shitty conference.
  11. I feel terrible for the way the LaTroy situation worked out. I take no pleasure in his misery.
  12. If Jim Hendry listened to his manager in '04, Derrek Lee would not be our 1B. And Lenny Harris might still be our 3B.
  13. Without the upside of Harden and twice the downside!! Sign me up!
  14. John Grabow has NEVER pitched 150 innings in a season.
  15. I knew we weren't gonna re-sign him, but this still brings the pain.
  16. I thought he was decent enough to hold down CF when he was out there.
  17. It's also unfortunate that Ryan Theriot can't hit like Hanley Ramirez. To be fair, there was a time when Soriano was a passable second baseman, there's never going to be a time when Theriot hits like Hanley. What if Hanley loses his arm in a chainsaw accident?
  18. Not a bad draw, though I think I'd rather take Michigan twice, and only play Iowa once. I like having only one of Minnesota or Wisconsin at home, cause their gyms are rough to play in, and it's not like a win there is going to be a huge boost to our resume(it helps, but it's not like we'd be knocking off a top 10 team in Purdue or MSU)
  19. Agreed with you on most points here, particularly about them not doing much in conference. I do think their talent level is higher than last year, but mainly their improved depth is the key (i.e. keeping guys like Moore and Finklemeier off the court). Also, solid win for Illinois. I only saw pieces but they looked sharp. Didn't meant to imply the talent level isn't higher, it clearly is, 4 of their top 5 scorers weren't on the team last year. (Though Story and Williams left, the incoming freshmen + Rivers obviously make up for that)
  20. I explained myself when I made that pick. Iowa has an offense that's more conducive to a out of nowhere upset. Penn St. is a lot closer to the bottom then I thought when I made those picks, but Northwestern and Wisconsin are a lot farther away. Looking at the schedules, IU only gets PSU once (away), and MSU once (home). Iowa gets PSU once (home), and Wisconsin once (away) Iowa isn't going winless with that system, and IU isn't going to beat the top teams so it could come down to the head to head. An IU sweep isn't out of the question. I'd be stunned to see Iowa sweep IU.
  21. I think they'll steal a few more games than people think. They've really looked pretty good tonight and have been much more competitive this year than last. It helps when you don't have an unathletic midget playing a bunch of minutes at PG. Jeremiah Rivers isn't much better. Whoa? Rivers isn't a world beater by any means, but Daniel Moore can't even carry his jock. Of course, that's much more of a slight against Moore than a compliment to Rivers. Thank God Moore didn't see the court last night. Hopefully that trend continues. It was a really nice win for this team. I was impressed with their rebounding and physical play underneath. I will say, Pitt looked really bad. Well Rivers is a way better defender, but the 2 of them just seem to have the same offensive gameplan of drive into the lane head down and then realize they can't shoot. Last year Indiana wouldn't have been close to Pitt, and it's not so much that the talent level is so much higher than last year, it's that sucking vortexes like Moore don't have to see the court due to lack of depth. I still don't think they'll do much in Big Ten season(though I may need to bump them ahead of Iowa), but they have the bodies where a loss won't be a foregone conclusion before they take the court.
  22. I don't think that's a quote I want to have printed in the NY Times. Sex
