  1. Oh come on he had 599 PAs last year. You're being incredibly strict if you don't consider that a full season.
  2. Pomeroy had them (ever so slightly) favored in this game. If Michigan loses this, it's pretty much their season.
  3. Fuld would be the defense 1st, 5th OF. I'm not a huge Fuld fan, but I think I'm gonna be pretty pissed if he's not on the major league roster to start the year (cause it likely means we signed some speedy trash like Nook Logan to be the backup CF.)
  4. No brainers are Lee '05 and Sosa '01. I assume you're including bench/bullpen in which case you have to have Hollandsworth '04, Ward '07, Fontenot '08, Marmol '07, Farnsworth '01, Gooz '09
  5. Backloaded contracts are good. This is actually a pretty good deal. And Praise baby Jesus that it wasn't for Podsednik
  6. Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahhahaaahahahahhaa
  7. It's Bruce Weber's MO to lose to crappy teams on our home court. I am growing tired of this [expletive] even with the upturn in recruiting We're the crappy team.
  8. Keller shoots every [expletive] time he gets the ball.
  9. Perhaps we should consider playing perimeter defense against the team full of white guys less athletic than me
  10. What a [expletive] Kramer flop
  11. Zell turned a healthy profit on the Cubs and still owns .05 of them. To think oterwise is looney. I typed too fast for my brain there, I don't recall what Zell paid for the Cubs, (it wasn't the 1B # that B2B believes wasn't true or something) he may have made a profit
  12. Throwing blind faith in a "businessman"'s ability to make money is a pretty surefire way to lose your own. I don't doubt that there's creative accounting going on to help some owners cry poor, but to say no owner could possibly lose money (just write it off!) and to say Zell turned a profit is looney.
  13. Kramer, is that you? When Zell purchased the Tribune, the Cubs were reported to be worth $1B, they sold for much less two years later. The Tribune bought them for $20 million in the 80's, so they turned a pretty good profit on their investment. Also, what the Cubs were reported to be worth is different than what they were really worth. I'm sure the people who are paid to evaluate what these things are worth were wrong, and sports franchises managed to gain value while everything else in the world was losing it's worth. You should know.
  14. I generally watch it, but just because it's football. It's not football.
  15. Can somebody explain why in the hell the Rockets would even consider that trade? The Bulls get the 2 best players, dump bad contracts, and get an expiring deal?
  16. So how little does the previous year's success matter? Was the world series window wide open for the '04 Tigers? All their good players were young and they had a blank check.
  17. The Cubs world series window was wide open when they were coming off of a 66 win season?
  18. But the Vikings got the ball, and probably in better field position than if they received a kickoff.
  19. Chris Kramer fouls on every possession
  20. "Loves Chicago." I doubt it. I'm sure it's been as painful for the players as it has been for the fans the last few years (well the last 100 years....but we are just talking about Ramirez). If he gets the chance to go to a bona-fide winner for big money....he will be gone. He had a chance to do just that when he exercised his opt-out clause after the horrendous 2006 season. He re-signed with the Cubs a month later without really testing the market. If he was going to bolt for greener pastures, the time to do it would have been after a 66-96 season, when he was still on the right side of 30. Maybe. But he's witnessed some brutal Cubs karma since then....while proving to the rest of the league that he really is a force. I just wouldnt be surprised to see him go. Hope he stays though. So the previous 3 great seasons Ramirez had weren't enough for the rest of the league? The Angels were widely reported to be offering more than the Cubs. The league knew about Ramirez in that offseason.
  21. This was 4 months after he was traded for Lou Collier. By the Mets current GM.
  22. This was 4 months after he was traded for Lou Collier.
  23. Because the Cubs signed Grabow to some stupid contract and are going to pay some CF some stupid amount of money, does that mean they aren't strapped for cash?
  24. Alex Legion will be leaving the Illinois basketball team. Definitely did not expect things to turn out like this a year ago today.
