  1. So he's a freshman now? I don't mean to be naive, and I know junior high kids or younger are drawing attention now. But it still makes me uncomfortable. He's a sophomore now. Of all the things to make you feel uncomfortable about Kansas recruiting, getting sophomores in HS to committ should be pretty far down the list.
  2. This is just getting to be a joke. Why I am not laughing Cause Kentucky hasn't been knocked out shy of the Final 4 again yet.
  3. The more I read from anonymous scouts, the less I think of them. It's likely a selection bias as the crusty old men who nobody cares about anymore are dying to feel relevant by being quoted in a Stark column, but I just picture some 85 year old guy who judges a player by how firm his handshake is when I hear these things.
  4. Yep, this is their way of easing into it. 96 teams is why they need cable in the new deal, because CBS isn't going to committ to airing low rated game during the week.
  5. No the Great West is a collection of the worst teams in D1 basketball (Yeah, worse than the SWAC/MEAC). They will not get an auto bid. I wouldn't give them an auto bid if the tourney went to 96. It sends a message to really shitty teams to go D1 for basketball form an awful conference and get a payout.
  6. There is literally no evidence of that being the case.
  7. Dusty Baker won the division. We never should've let him leave.
  8. 3 Fingers said so himself(back when he had that one good game where he had like 4 hits) that he was always known more for his hitting than his defense. I think he's worse defensively than Geo
  9. That isnt fair to Silva, Silva's pitches have pretty good backdoor movement and when he puts it in the right spot he can control an offense. Glendon Rusch sucks at pitching. That's not fair to Rusch at all. Their career peripherals are actually really similar. Rusch obviously walked more, but he was also capable of actually striking guys out.
  10. I'm pretty sure they're doing this because Lou was pouting about the bullpen, so this is their way of solving the pen "issue" It has nothing to do with demoting Z
  11. Because you have other guys in the bullpen desperate for pitching time in low leverage situations. The Cubs need to capitalize on those. Besides, it's usually not a bad idea to make sure the opposing team doesn't have a chance to adjust to a reliever if he's given you a good inning, especially if it's a pitcher without overwhelming stuff. It's not like he had to go back out there because the bullpen was taxed or because the lead was close. In short, there was no need to send him back out there. He's a reliever, he got you your three outs, you have other guys that need to pitch; pick someone else. We were desperate for a win. The lead wasn't so big I would feel fully safe putting in one of the others. We needed to get some positive going before things imploded. You don't trust anyone but Marshall and Marmol to get 3 outs while giving up less than 5 runs??
  12. Pitching Marmol here would make more sense, but the save statistic matters more than wins
  13. I think people should post pictures of Zambrano when Silva does poorly the way the Castro pics come up when Theriot sucks.
  14. Theriot back to the leadoff spot. What a nutjob.
  15. No the issue is Jim Hendry. It has been for some time now. 18M for a reliever would mean he needs to be worth 4 wins a year. For his career Mariano Rivera is worth 3.2 wins a year. Got that from Gateway Redbirds. Z isn't a free agent getting signed to the bullpen. His contract doesn't matter when determining his role. It'd be nice if his performance history did.
  16. That's pretty creative tree.
  17. Oh and as an added bonus, we've made our offense worse every 5th day.
  18. He's gonna collapse in upon himself like a neutron star.
  19. I'd like to seal Kaplan's mouth shut. Nose too.
  20. No.
  21. You were close enough :) Just think how sick the bullpen would be if we moved Lilly and Dempster there with him.
  22. Lou was just sitting there thinking Zambrano hasn't been worked enough in his career. If we put him in the pen, I can throw him 2 innings a game in every game with a lead 7 or less.
  23. All I can do is laugh.
  24. Sounds like the logic of why Dempster was moved to the rotation in the first place. And why Marshall was put in the pen this year. Dempster was making $5 million a year then and Mashall costs almost nothing right now, so it isn't the same situation. Dempster is getting elite starter money and actually living up to his contract. Why would he be the one moved into a less important role? Just saying, stupid reasons like "he's familiar with the role" aren't uncommon with this organization.
