  1. He was swinging the bat. The impression I get is that he was directed to move the runner over that way. And to be honest, I don't disagree with that. A left hander should be able to ground out and get the runner over. I don't like this. If all you're trying to do with your AB is make an out on the ground then just bunt the damn ball.
  2. Heading into today, the Cubs were 26 points better with men in scoring position, and 8 points worse with men on when compared to bases empty.
  3. Kaplan will applaud the move. Anything's better than that lazy Soriano. Plus you can't trust Geovany Soto coming off the bench in a situation like that. You have your bench guys, and you have your starters, and how many times do you see where a starter come off the bench and can't get it done. Especially lazy no good pieces of trash like Alfonso Soriano.
  4. The Big 3 can't be both decrepit and unable to play, and capable of carrying some scrub to an all star level.
  5. Rondo shot 51% on the year
  6. But right now he is. No. At best Rose .v. Rondo is a tossup. Give Rose, Johnson and Bosh to run with and we will see if Rose .v. Rondo is even a debate. Right now, if Rondo has an advantage it is slight. Just looking at the stat line between the two, I don't see how it would be clear at all that Rondo is better than Rose, even currently. Certainly potential is on Rose's side. Obviously Rose has potential on his side, but it'd be nice if he played any sort of defense before people start calling him superior to Rondo.
  7. Can you name ant great BASKETBALL players that aren't douchebags? Tim Duncan and Deron Williams
  8. He'd be a capable backup to Rondo though.
  9. I don't see why the Bulls would trade Rose to the Celtics.
  10. A few post above yours says that he was not released on Friday and would not be available until today. I don't know if this is right or not but could also explain why he has not been picked up. Right. Quite a few teams ahead of the Cubs on the waiver wire, I would imagine. Not sure if Cruz makes it that far. It's possible KC wanted someone to pick up way more of his contract in order to work out a trade, thus he'll be free to go to the first team that wants him. Considering his history and his age, I'm guessing he gets snatched up pretty quickly for league minimum. Nobody's going to claim Cruz off of waivers because they'd definitely wind up paying his entire contract.
  11. wait... what? he was interviewed after their game and he was like "well when we see the cavs in the next round..." and then he realized the series wasn't over, so he said "well, whoever wins that series ..." and then gave a real derisive laugh and went on talking. <3
  12. Ever since Ewing to the Knicks, they have been. Hope you didn't enjoy those fake Bulls titles
  13. Agreed, otherwise it's a huge waste of a bench spot. On rare occasion, I don't have an issue with a pitcher pinch-running, either. Well, Hill was coming in regardless because Lou was pulling out starting catcher with an OBP over 500 to [expletive] bunt.
  14. And you can't just look at records and say this manager good, this manager bad. It's doing that stuff that leaves you thinking Dusty Baker is a good hire in the winter of 2002.
  15. It's cause he refused to wear a tie.
  16. People keep saying this, and they're totally missing the point. This isn't dumb because he makes a lot of money, it's dumb because he's not even close to our worst starter.
  17. Yeah, just look at Paul Sullivan or Jay Mariotti. Hopefully the OP is aiming higher. There will always be demand for sports journalists as long as there as sports fans. There will be demand for sportswriters, not sports journalists. I don't know if by definition they are different, but in practice they sure are. Going into journalism to get into sportswriting seems like a really poor career move. In starting up 312, I can tell you that I'm finding it very difficult to find people who: 1) know how to write well 2) really know sports Of course, to be fair, it may be the third requirement that's really holding things up: 3) is willing to work for free until the site has sufficient revenues And 3 is why aspiring to be a sportswriter is a foolish endeavor. Even when the site has sufficient revenues, I can't imagine you'll be paying anyone anything close to a living wage + benefits. It's more of a hobby than a job.
  18. I would've sworn Willie Blair was dead when he got hit in the face.
  19. Didn't follow his daily Milton Bradley tweets last year? The man has a vendetta the size of Brennaman's.

  21. Pinch bunting was bad enough. But if you're going to use a pinch hitter solely to bunt, why not use Dempster?
  22. Yeah. 8 posts ago.
  23. There's no need to be a professional journalist when reporting on sports.
  24. Isn't that 70/125 over 500 AB's? I'd be positively euphoric if he could keep that up. or was that a green font thing? No green font thing intended. What ratio of BB/K is considered acceptable? Obviously more BBs than Ks is what every player would like to have but I always assumed a ratio around 50/50 is acceptable. The more walks/strikeouts you have, the more acceptable it is to have a larger gap. I'd rather take 70/125 than 15/10.
  25. Why should the 9 seed have to win more games than the 10 seed? They already have to face the best team in their bracket in the 2nd round, now they have to win 2 games, just for that chance?
