Because he probably meant conference road opener and just misspoke. Guy announcing Mizzou-Colorado said just about the same thing and corrected himself. Well they won their first conference road game in the '07-'08 season. Did he only mean opening conference game when it's on the road? Who cares?

It's not a good rule. There hasn't been anyone that benefited from this rule either, as every head coach that's been hired certainly was qualified with or without the rule in place. And in an instance like this, where Harbaugh is a high-profile "get", why you HAVE to interview anyone else seems redundant to me. That said, the Fins know the rules and before pitching Harbaugh, they should have already made their "courtesy" interview. Of course, they also should have went ahead and fired their head coach before doing any of this stuff to begin with, so they get a big FAIL all around. You would think they would have someone on staff currently that they could just call up stairs to interview. Is James Saxon still around? I think Cleo Lemon's gonna be getting a minicamp invite

That's not really the argument. It's like saying Auburn wouldn't be a title contender if they were in the Sun Belt because nobody cares about the Sun Belt, and they wouldn't have the kind of money to have modern facilities and whatever it is that draws players other than Cam Newton there.
