  1. And probably at least the playoffs if not his career.
  2. Traylor dead of a heart attack at 34. OMINOUS COINCIDENCE. Better get busy living Mr. Smith!!
  3. You think you were the only person that mentioned his name the day before he died?
  4. Not sure why people still think he'd be a good GM, other than the fact Billy Beane likes him. He wasn't particularly good in LA. He wasn't particularly bad either. On the plus side you have: Trading Jason Frasor for Jayson Werth Trading Steve Colyer for Cody Ross Trading Juan Encarnacion, LoDuca, and G. Mota for Choi, Billy Murphy, and Brad Penny Trading Reggie Abercrombie, Koyie Hill, Billy Murphy for Steve Finley and Brent Mayne Signed Carlos Santana Signed Jeff Kent Signed JD Drew Signed Derek Lowe Dumped Shawn Green's contract Negative side: Trading Dave Roberts for Henri Stanley Releasing Joakim Soria Lost Shane Victorino in Rule 5 Signed Jose Valentin Sold Dave Ross Failed to sign supplemental pick Luke Hochevar in '05 To date, Blake DeWitt is best success story from his 2 drafts.
  5. Even Reinsdorf doesn't have confidence in this team.
  6. See how fun it is to hit at Wrigley Albert? Imagine this 81 times a year
  7. How could the Bulls be winning without Rose taking 18 first half shots? Impossible.
  8. he was soundly boo'dFANTASTIC Every time I think Cubs fans can't get any worse, they do something like this. And totally redeem themselves!!
  9. Is a Molina ever really in "scoring position?"
  10. It's a heck of a lot harder to win in the Big East than in the Big 12. Granted, aTm fans aren't very dedicated to the hoops team (not compared to football), but I think it's a reasonably attractive job now that BCG and Turgeon have put it on the map. And aTm is a program that is guaranteed to land in a major conference should there be another shake up, so no worries on the front. Unlike a few other Big 12 schools.
  11. Well a lot of teams wanted Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh too. Why does Riley get credit for them, but GarPax doesn't get credit for Thibs and the bench? On the other hand they signed maybe the worst contract of the offseason.
  12. I'm quite shocked about this. I 100% agree with rose for MVP and Thibs for coach. But I can't see how you can't give it to Riley for signing the big 3 and getting FAs to sign for he league minimum. Perhaps Garpax deserves a lot of credit for signing Thibs. But they dont deserve credit based on their FA signings. They've built probably the best bench outside of Dallas.
  13. Doubtful I'm all for just calling it the SWC. The Longhorn Conference
  14. Who was in that alledged package for Roberts...... Pie, Eric Patterson, Rich Hill, and a couple of other "good at that time" prospects? None of which really proved to be anything - but at the time it was a big chunk of what was thought to be the future of the organization. I guess I'm not understanding where you're going with this. Are you faulting Hendry for not seeing that certain prospects wouldn't succeed? Also, Eric Patterson and Sean Gallagher turned into Rich Harden later that year. And I believe Sean Marshall was discussed as a target in that trade as well.
  15. Hold on - I know Hill wasn't bad. I'm not advocating that we should have traded Hill to get Roberts, I'm just saying that Baltimore got ALL of them (eventually), and what did the Cubs get? Who are you talking about besides Pie?
  16. But...Brian Roberts is bad now. And acquiring him before the '08 season would have been disrespectful to DeRosa.
  17. It's a lot more important for the future of the Cubs that they sign a stud 1B than fire their GM. Like I said earlier, whoever is the GM come a few days before free agency begins, sure as hell better be the GM throughout the offseason.
  18. Perea might have to decide to go to prep school if this performance keeps up.
  19. I don't believe the Heat relinquished Chalmers. He was just dirth cheap because he's still on his 2nd round contract.
  20. Yes, O' Dowd is still there. As I said they've been superior recently, but if we're judging the accuracy of CubinNY's statement, O' Dowd definitely qualified. '99-'06 - 1 winning record (82 wins)
