  1. It's the run environment. He's been basically middle of the pack on the season.
  2. I imagine the Charlotte pick would have to be included (plus maybe a Bulls or Heat pick, but really they don't have much value), but as I said it's partially protected up until 2016.
  3. Going back to the Bulls Howard discussion: I was screwing around on Trade Machine this morning, the best deal I can come up with for the Magic: (obviously draft picks could be added) Noah Gibson Asik Bogans Brewer Lucas Pargo for Howard It can be touched up a little involving Watson instead of Asik/Bogans, and Lucas needs to come and go in different iterations, but this looked to be the best talent to Orlando I could find. I don't think that gets it done. I really think if Orlando is trading Howard, they're making a team take on Arenas or Hedo, I don't trade Dwight otherwise if I'm them.
  4. And Thibs has a fractured brain if Kurt Thomas doesn't play tonight. I wonder if it's a fear that Thomas is too old to handle Bosh? I can't imagine why he wouldn't see any tick otherwise.
  5. It isn't like the average fan has any say in who they hire anyways. With Sampson I think most IU fans just hoped for the best and made themselves believe he would never break NCAA rules ever again. Not that I'm going to deny we have a large number of douchebags in our own fan base. I can barely stand to read any Indiana basketball message boards. Illinois scout board takes the cake for dbags. Mostly the mods. And right on cue, a 5 day ban for telling Nova he was being arrogant (following his standard, I'm [expletive] old so I know more than you) and challenging his contention that Bradley was an elite mid-major that just ran into a couple bad coaching hires. Were you around on that board when he banned the guy who proved he actually wasn't in the Navy like he claimed to be? Hahaha, I missed that one. [expletive], I thought his military way [expletive] was obnoxious before.
  6. do the scholarships pay for board in off campus housing, or do you have to live in a dorm? Scholarships pay for board in off-campus. I had board in included in my scholarship, moved out of the dorms after freshman year and wound up with ~$400/month in spending money (beyond groceries/utilities) from the savings. The prices you pay for dorm residences and meal plans is exorbitant.
  7. Cause he knows it won't be coming off.
  8. I've been really down on Quade, but I have to give him credit for getting pitchers warmed up already with the expectation that this is going 5-6 innings.
  9. Would LA be willing to do that? If I'm the Magic I'd prefer to get back younger, healthier talent but you'd probably have to take that offer and live in NBA mediocrity for the next 7 years. If I'm LA, I'm not so sure about the deal. Losing Gasol and Bynum would really hurt LA and I'm not so sure it makes them that much better in the near term, even getting Howard. Maybe in a few years, but the window is closing for Kobe. And getting Arenas back would hurt. LA reminds me a lot of the Yankees right now. Willing to go for the big gun, but where are the trading chips? Bynum is the only guy on the team who you would consider a really tradeable asset. And I disagree that the Bulls couldn't put together a decent offer for Howard. They have some young players not making tons of money and draft picks. Taj Gibson is the only tradeable commodity who doesn't make a lot of money (I don't buy that Asik has much trade value) and the draft picks are all really high with the exception of the Charlotte pick which is lottery protected in '12, and somewhat protected all the way until 2016) I just don't think Noah/Gibson is enough of a centerpiece.

  11. The Bulls are a really bad fit with the Magic IMO. The Gasol/Bynum-Howard/Arenas keeps making too much sense to me.
  12. I figured the bad blood from '09 was still too fresh, you'll have plenty of years to despise the Heat.
  13. Yeah Matt, better rest up that bone bruise for the next 9 months don't want it spiraling out of control.
  14. I have to imagine you'd prefer losing to the Heat over the Celtics.
  15. I thought I heard that as I got out of the shower, but couldn't believe it was true. And for that money??
  16. WSR demands that LaHair gets his shot somewhere.
  17. Yeah, I was going to start pouting about the lineup, but I really don't know what else can be done besides moving Soriano up.
  18. I don't know how actually believing in this nonsense doesn't sap any interest you have.
  19. Well, not in an NBA playoff game at least. http://cdn4.faniq.com/images/photos/photo_large/20/23220-1.jpg
  20. I think it's a given that an outfielder will be called up before tomorrow's game. Calling up a pitcher to replace Byrd on the roster was a move for one game, to provide bullpen depth behind Russell. It would be an interesting story if it is Montanez: Former Cubs' #1 draft pick makes Cubs' debut more than a decade after being drafted after first spending time in the ex-Cubs' rest home in Baltimore. :D I dont mind calling up Montanez. Or LaHair or Snyder, who are all pretty much interchangeable, but I wonder of that 1 bad slide came between Brett Jackson and a callup. I wonder if their will be any correspoinding roster moves for Iowa, Tennessee, and Daytona, or if Iowa will jutst stick with an extra pitcher. There's no reason to call up Brett Jackson this early. If we did, he'd qualify for Super 2 status and assuming he develops into a pretty good player, that can end up costing the club upwards of $10 mil or even $15 mil over the course of his club-controlled years. Since adding him a month early likely wont make the difference of us making the playoffs this year, it would be a very bad idea to just throw that money down the drain. How long do you expect Byrd to be out?
  21. [expletive] YOU
