  1. Bochy wanted somebody with a more noticable head than himself.
  2. I have never really understood why everyone refers to Pierre as a "base stealing threat". He gets caught A LOT and defensively, if he gets on base you should be hoping that he tries to steal. You have a 50/50 shot at wiping away a hit/walk etc. Um he's a black CF, what are we supposed to say? He gets the most out of his abilities??
  3. I pulled up seats like 3 rows behind him when they went on sale. Timed out before I could get through.
  4. Should've kept him in CF.
  5. But he's fast. Need that speed at the top. The fact he can't get on base is immaterial. Check out his sponsor on BF: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/campato01.shtml Does he know that's not a compliment?
  6. I couldn't believe the terms when I heard them. The guy isn't even top 5 at his position. Fangraphs doesn't have him top 20. ETA: Quick glance shows those #s are skewed due to non-1B being lumped in because they played a few games there.
  7. I blame the Cubs for not drafting Albert Pujols.
  8. So why not just wait and cut him when he sucks? Because then you're paying twice as much for no output.
  9. Or they could have just taken Jason Heyward. Or Matt Wieters. Or Madison Bumgarner. Wieters is the only one to be upset about.
  10. So you're getting the same output for the same amount next year, and you're more and more likely to have better output for the the same money the following years.
  11. But how much savings are really that realistic? It's difficult to see a scenario where moving Soriano isn't essentially just paying him to play somewhere else. Seems like it would be a PR move for the meatballs and the Kaplans of the world more than anything. Trust me, I'd love to watch Soriano have the game-winning hit to win a title just so Kaplan would hopefully kill himself, but I don't think it's impossible to find a taker for him at 3/27. I know he's a glaring exception, but Vernon Wells had his entire horrific contract absorbed.
  12. Depends on the fraction. Dumping half of Soriano's contract is probably worth it, and I like Soriano.
  13. McGehee having a .596 OPS and -0.5 WAR gives me an irrational amount of happiness. Well it does remove one of the irrational rants meat head Cub fans like to use against Hendry. Now if Hamilton could just implode we'd be doing alright. And we need Kenny Lofton to die.
  14. You could make a not totally outrageous case for Ramirez as an all-star
  15. Here's the filing: http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/documents/dodgers.pdf They still owe Andruw Jones a [expletive] load of money. (And Marquis Grissom??)
  16. Reed: fielding percentage - 1.000 in 35 games; UZR - -5.4 Soriano: fielding percentage - .961 games; UZR - 2.3 Fielding percentage prefers Reed, but Sori has been a much better defender this year according to UZR. That's judging Soriano as a LF vs. Johnson primarily as a CF. I'm relatively certain Reed is a better defensive LF than Soriano.
  17. I don't agree with this at all.
  18. I would not trade Starlin for Strasburg
  19. I wouldn't go that far, Wavin' Wendell was bad, this team just doesn't know how to run bases. [expletive], give me Sandberg and his small ball over this [expletive]. It's works for the University of Texas. ??????
  20. You should've bet. Yeah if only I would have replied "I'm down with that" when you proposed the trade. That was just last February and you guys all thought he was the truth. 100% chance of being drafted, most likely going in the 1st round and a decent chance of being a lottery pick. Then it seemed like you were all done with him by late January. We weren't the only ones spellbound by his potential. viewtopic.php?f=44&t=54051&p=2377071&hilit=mccamey#p2377071 viewtopic.php?f=44&t=57393&p=2434963&hilit=mccamey#p2434963
  21. Well it makes me sad about Demetri Mccamey...he's not a bad guy, he just regressed heavily as a player. I dunno, it happens, he has a very odd mindset, and I don't think Weber is blameless in this as well. Jereme Richmond...well yeah he brought this all on himself. I don't see how it's Weber's fault that McCamey decided in January that he'd done enough to get drafted and then coasted for 3 months. Should he have benched him more? It's hard to hold a coach completely blameless for a guy not being motivated. I'm not saying the majority isn't on Demetri, because at a certain point after 4 years, it's on you, but with the lethargy his teams have shown when not lead by a fiery player like Frazier or Brown, it's worth questioning.
  22. I can't believe he's 58.
