  1. Probably because the inexplicable number of page views coming from non-residents allow the paper's ad revenue to finance the entire town's budget. The town is so filthy rich that the paper rakes in ad money from businesses who can't think of anything else to do with all their money, so nobody cares about the quality. If ever there was a reason to end our dependence on oil, da Bum's continued employment is it.
  2. Probably because the inexplicable number of page views coming from non-residents allow the paper's ad revenue to finance the entire town's budget. Can we nominate one person to copy and paste each of his articles so as to not give him page views, and hopefully leave him a penniless bellhop?
  3. And da Bum telling me not to get my hopes up, has my hopes even higher because he's never been right about anything. Minimum 3700 hits in his career.
  4. He keeps hinting that he's actually had sex in his life. Nobody's buying it Levin.
  5. ZiPS must not have thought much of Cashner/Wells/Garza if they expected them to put a ~7.00 ERA in limited innings during their missed starts. I think the point is more that they have been so freaking bad that even having those guys miss no time doesn't make up the difference. Plus, a lot of other teams have missed a lot more, and better, players. The problem hasn't been the abilities of the players we lost, so much as the horrific lackthereof of their replacements. ETA: And I didn't even mention the concept of Tony Campana, starting CF.

  7. Come to think of it, Funky Butt-Loving sounds pretty graphic for a kid's movie.
  8. This is pretty much the point btw. We've come up with a total of 3 guys who've gone into the bricks to catch a ball, only 1 of them could be described as better than adequate OFers, and 1 of them for whom terrible would be kind. (Plus he came away with a busted face for the effort)
  9. Sam Fuld and Ben Grieve.

  11. Only if there are a lot of DHs that have been forced to play the field.
  12. DOTC has doubled his walk total on the season today.
  13. I don't notice loafing after balls in the gap. The noticable slow downs from Soriano are playing balls off the wall because he doesn't play bounces well.
  14. And all this with a HR rate far better than his historical rate.
  15. That's what I was thinking also. You could feel the silence fall over the game thread during that AB.
  16. This looks a lot like a trade Jim Bowden would make. I fear it's just his idea.
  17. Damn would've been great to lose the bet in 1 PA.
  18. Doug Davis has struck out Bill Hall twice. Just kill yourself Bill.
