  1. Rob, relating to that fangraphs chart, is "normal player" defined as everyone else in the majors?
  2. it's so [expletive] inspirational...it will never grow old in my opinion. Great speech, but yet another instance where someone dying in the public eye covers up what a slimeball he was in real life. Not to go all spongeworthy but NCAA violations doesn't make somebody a slimeball of a person. I'd say that speech and what it's inspired for caancer research more than makes up for the fact that he was forced out at NC State
  3. 6/200 is ideal?? What does that make 10/220?
  4. Yeah and you could buy the entire state if you lived in Montana.
  5. I'd imagine a response similar to that following the Soriano contract.
  6. Rob, I want you to give me a list that represents any sort of decent sample size to say guys shaped like Fielder are likely to collapse before age 33.
  7. Now 18 different twitters/articles/sports radio stations can report this and each instance can be treated as corroboration.
  8. I'll admit it, the Jimmy V speech is still awesome.
  9. Exactly. I fought that battle a few times when suggesting Dunn wasn't the best allocation of resources. But if you were fighting that battle in 2006-2007 you were wrong.
  10. Yes. I know it sounds crazy, but 5 years down the road, I think I'd be ok signing a 37 year old Pujols to 5/70. That's ignoring the fact that you're getting a decent deal on 5/150, and ignoring the reduced value of the 220 considering the time value of money as I invest the backloaded money in the Pujols hedge fund.
  11. Unless the Bulls win. You're right, I can't argue with the numbers. You know the ones like attendance, where mls has surpassed the NBA. Or ratings, where again the NBA trails the other big sports. The Lakers dominance by buying everyone else's stars is definitely great for casual fan interest. Oooookay?
  12. If a chronic gambler triples his paycheck at the craps table a few times in a row, it doesn't mean it was a good bet. We haven't won a WS in 103 years. If you tell me we will win it all next season and then finish DEAD LAST for the next 5 years (or even 10), I'll take it. MISS THE POINT SOME MORE
  13. 6 bed/5 bath, I think Beerbitch just solved his landlord problem.
  14. Strong average pitcher is somehow more nonsensical than calling him a 2/3.
  15. Unless the Bulls win.
  16. What are you afraid people will use your real name to track down your twitter and obsessively stalk your every message?
  17. It's hard to know much of anything until the offseason plays out and we know what kind of veteran backups they can get for the backcourt. The only guards on the roster are Rondo, Allen, and Avery Bradley (who Rivers refused to play under any circumstances last year much to my chagrin) Gun to my head, I'd say he makes the roster but spends much of the year inactive.
  18. New Years is on a Sunday so the NFL gets that day, which is also Week 17. The same thing happened in the 05 season, which was the last time New Years Day was on a Sunday. Wouldn't the major bowl games be better on Saturday the 31st rather than Monday afternoon when a lot of people are back at work already? That would probably hurt the ratings. Granted, New Year's Eve probably isn't the best day, but it would be better than a weekday. I imagine most offices are closed on the 2nd.
  19. "Inside track," no. But an "opportunity"? That means that there is something that LaHair can do between now and April to make the team. He's not just going away as some have hoped. Epstein doesn't seem like the type to tell a player they are getting an opportunity if they don't mean it. I'm perfectly fine with LaHair getting a chance to make the team. I'm not TT
  20. The fact that he feels like he is going to have an opportunity is enough to make me queasy. Reading that made me want to rip my eyeballs out. An opportunity for what?
  21. How does that quote from LaHair show that he's got the inside track on the 1B job? It's more drooling sports media bufoons being drooling sports media buffoons.
  22. Aside from removing him from my friends list, I'm not quite sure how to respond without calling him a moran. Call wekse.
  23. Brock broke it first
  24. Not according to Tree's sister..... Literally the only reason I included that last sentence was for the easy setup.
