I don't want anything that was rumored from Boston or Toronto, so I don't care about them. You seem really intent on trading Garza for whatever the best offer is, and I'm really struggling to understand why. Because after 324 games in which I'm not expecting a ton from the Cubs, he's a free agent and all we get is draft pick compensation. Or we re-sign/extend him, and we have a great pitcher. -

That pick isn't unprotected until 2016. It's top 12 in '13, 10 in '14, 8 in '15.

Luckily, Texas State is going to the SEC next year and won't have to deal with actual opponents in basketball.

That would be a very interesting quandry. Overall, IU would still have a tournament-caliber resume, but they would have finished 4-10 their last fourteen Big Ten games. That would be pretty ugly. It might come down to who those last two wins were against. If those two wins are Northwestern and Iowa, it might be pretty difficult to rationalize including a team that has only beaten Iowa, Northwestern, Penn State, and North Carolina Central since January 5. However, if those two wins are Michigan State and Illinois/Purdue, well, then I'd think IU would be pretty worthy. I agree, please join with me in rooting for this outcome so we can view history.

Illinois a 6, wow. Don't get too excited...they still have Northwestern in their bracket. When you consider the other 4 last four in are Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and Colorado State, it doesn't seem that outrageous.

8-10 will still put Indiana in the tournament unfortunately. 7-11 would be a realllly interesting case. Say they lose in the 1st round of the BTT, they're still sitting at 20-12 with wins over 2 top 5 teams while playing in the best conference in the country, but... That's incredibly unlikely of course, but it's fun to dream.

I just glanced at KenPom and saw only the top 3 projected better than 10-8. That schedule does look fairly easy, but I really don't buy Michigan as legit.

Ehh, I don't think they'd have to go crazy to finish top 4. 10-8 could do it, and holding serve at home while winning @ Nebraska would do that. ETA: And a 2-1 record vs the likely top 2 would give us tiebreakers over anyone else.
