    There's a difference between "wide rumors" and a story so big that it resulted in congressional investigation/testimony. Steroids in baseball were a HUGE issue in the country. Those differences seem to have a lot more to do with the media and Congress than the "scandal" itself.

    Well that's a silly example. Chicago has a large Notre Dame fanbase.

    I'd be floored if that happens. The job is toxic. All media accounts I'm reading are that he stays in Cincy (in a dying Big East) or goes to Colorado. Cincy is an easy winner there. Heck is that a big enough media market for the big x to come calling soon? Yep, the Bearcats pretty much own the state of Ohio.

    Old Style would've voted for like 5 Hawaii QBs in a row for Heisman when June Jones was there.

    To be fair, you probably wouldn't have won 27 games if Verdell Jones was healthy. And Roth and Pritchard were pretty bystanderish by the end of the season.

    Ingram won the closest Heisman vote in history that should tell you it was a pretty fragmented field. And yes, I think you transported him to ND '12 Teo is still getting a good deal of support considering Ingram had the most pedestrian numbers of basically any winner in a long time. And the McClain thing was to illustrate a point. We're not talking about just a difference in vote totals. We're talking about two guys who played the same position on similarly successful defenses. One guy didn't receive a single vote and the other is going to finish 2nd in the Heisman. That's partly a function of ND hype. McClain played for the [expletive] #1 team in the country which just happened to be a resurgent Alabama. But it's probably because nobody heard of him rather than that he was a defensive player on a great offensive(and defensive) team.

    If Mark Ingram '09 was on Notre Dame '12, does anyone think Teo would be getting support? McClain's lack of support had nothing to do with him playing for some school in Alabama that nobody had ever heard of.

    You've made it abundantly clear that you can make baseless and biased claims. He's right in this case. Rolando McClain didn't even get a vote in 09 with credentials that are just as good as Teo's. Unanimous All American, Butkus Award, undefeated season. Any of the 4 finalists that year would have won this season. Teo is a finalist because he's the best defender on the #1 team in the country that has put up mediocre offensive #s AND there aren't any standout offensive players on the best teams in the country. ETA: Nevermind that McClain's own damn teammate won the thing in '09. And that a defender not from Notre Dame (HOW CAN THAT BE) finished 4th that season.(Ahead of previous Heisman winner Tim Tebow)

    That's be a good hire for them. Yeah, considering the state of their program. I guess a lot of Purdue fans are high on him and we've offered him our job. I'd rather he go to Colorado. Who do you want for Purdue HC job? Jon Gruden

    really? I'd argue that a guy with an SEC-record 4,600 yards of offense and SEC-record 43 TD's is an obvious Heisman. Dude put up video game numbers as a Freshman. Why does his being a freshman help his Heisman case?

    Bud Norris will be 28 next year and only has 3 years of team control, I wouldn't give up much for him.

    No, not everyone wants college basketball to be pro basketball. Hasn't your boy Self even publicly stated he doesn't like the rule? Why would a coach like the rule? He'd much rather have the player for 2 years than 1.
