  1. I voted yes, but to imply it's impossible to say no is silly. You could lead with 197 losses over 2 seasons and quite unlikely to compete in season 3.
  2. It's not a matter of having to let him go. I don't see it as very likely we'll contend in 2014 and I'm not at all confident Shark is ever going to be more than he is right now. I'll take the very solid prospect package and the extra 15-20 mill he'll be getting in a few years to spend elsewhere. To not spend elsewhere I actually think we will use it to spend on signing some of the prospects to contract extensions (Yes, this is assuming some of them pan out), which is the plan I like better anyway. Free agency pretty much blows and is not the way I want to build a team. So we lock up Baez and Bryant to 5/35 contracts, what do we do with the other money? You can only spend so much on Josh Johnson and Ryan Church

  4. I said that three years ago when everyone thought every contract was so hilarious and every gm was so stupid but we got Scott baker for 5m so we're all good.
  5. I'd like to hear the one about him dying on it
  6. I can't even...just too sad. This team will be terrible for [expletive] ever
  7. But we can't spend more than 3 nickels until our entire stadium is rebuilt and 2 years after every media contract has been renegotiatied.
  8. Frank Thomas was drafted in 1989. The 1990 Top 100 was the first Top 100 he could appear. He had 223 PAs at A ball in 1989, hitting 4 HRs. He most certainly was not a lock for the majors in 1990.
  9. Are people just assuming Pierce or Garnett get hurt? This is comical
  10. In spite of the fact that he has zero margin for error on his pitches?
  11. It just so happens that there's no need to spend money until 2019 guys, don't worry about it.
  12. Yep, I'd bet most guys who reach their ceiling attain a higher level than their "ceiling" was graded out at.
  13. is @poortomricketts really you? if so, pm me the login info and we will doubleteam this s Is this a legit Twitter handle? If so, I must follow. It exists. When I checked, it had one follower. Julie DiCaro. There used to be a couple other media types following. Disappointing.
  14. Vodka water lime was the drink of choice for girls by my senior year.
  15. According to Marlin, he says both Shark and Castro are likely on the block this offseason. I've thought Shark had a decent chance of getting dealt if he won't sign longterm. Castro? You make an argument it makes sense, I guess. Assuming you're counting on Javy and Alcantara.(not the greatest argument obviously) That said, after the down year, I seriously doubt the offers are remotely close to get the FO to move him. They just want to dump the salary.
  16. On the bright side, my PoorTomRicketts twitter handle should really start to take off.
  17. In response to a post about how many big FA the Cubs have been linked to. Fuuuuuuuuck you
  18. He was pretty damn fun to watch last night. Had it on in the background, and rewound every time Stacy King lost his mind. Probably would've been faster to just watch it live.
  19. Meant to include the link: http://auction.mlb.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/feature.d2w/report?wl=33072944&sort=team&teamname=Cubs
  20. I don't know where this belongs, but the Cubs appear to be selling every flag used last season...and some random W flags from specific games. Have they always done this and I've just missed it, or are they re-designing the flags?...or #PoorTomRicketts?
  21. Aramark has most of the NFL contracts because their skill is based around making tons of food fast, irrelevant to whether it tastes like [expletive] or not. There are enough breaks in MLB games that it's not as important for them
  22. Wrigley food was terrible when it was run by Aramark. It's Levy now.
  23. Oh. I'd prefer someone who speaks Sansgrit. Works on so many levels
  24. I'm sure that money lost on those plane tickets would've bankrupted them. And it definitely affected Alou in game 7.
