  1. Then our front office is stupid. That's a bit harsh I think. A career .322 OBP is not impressive. But since he plays a deluxe position, I think they feel they can still move him for something compelling. No, it's not. Being desperate to move a guy because of one bad season and because you're focusing on the flaws of his game rather than the strengths is the move of a stupid front office.
  2. Since we have no money again and aren't going to try again, why would you trade Castro at his absolute nadir rather than let him go out and hit for an empty average and then trade him for the 2015 run?
  3. Is it Miller or Martinez or Jenkins and a position prospect? The positional prospect is a SS and the Cardinals have no good SS prospects (this particular rumor seemed to suggest Peter Kozma as a placeholder before Javier Baez was ready). I seriously would let them take my 10% down payment and walk away. I will not buy season tickets for a team that acquires Pete Kozma on purpose.
  4. I might feel better about this if it was just a salary dump. At least we'd only have a problem with ownership rather than a broke owner and a suddenly stupid front office.
  5. Then our front office is stupid.
  6. How in the [expletive] is Jenkins comparable to Miller and Martinez??
  7. I'm sorry, where was this meltdown?
  8. Yeah, can't underestimate what gluttonous neanderthals Chicago sports fans are.
  9. Well, there are also the terrible fans at the stadium. Deathly quiet except to chant M-V-P or follow a prompting on a scoreboard.
  10. It's amazing that in a town with Cub fans, White Sox fans, and NFL fans that the Bulls fans shine through as the worst.
  11. Stupid Rose. They're just basketball sets, it's not like it's something complicated like reading, addition or shoe-tying
  12. I predict a terrible look for Anthony
  13. I don't know how that went in
  14. Kerr was so eager to rage against the replay rule that he didn't bother watching the replays showing it was clearly off of Rose
  15. The MVP chants in the middle of a 6-21 performance in the 2nd game of the season is an interesting choice
  16. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZkr0A9633Q Yeah, this disastrous class of a 5-star (Rivals No. 23), a 4-star (No. 42), and an unranked player (trust in Crean??). And very possibly leading for another 5-star (No. 22). Yes, very much implosion-like. It was an Indiana fan that posed the question. I love how sensitive you guys get.
  17. Maybe the argument can adjust to "we're still top 25 in payroll"
  18. I bet even he is disillusioned. Have I come down from being disappointed by a less than Jeter career? Sure. 50 percent chance he sucks? Please. Combined with the perception of him around the league, I can't imagine any scenario where it makes sense to trade him.
  19. I seem to remember him hanging out at Wrigley with a few friends and playing after hours. Anything to avoid the wife He's divorced, so I guess he just had nobody else to celebrate with. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-evbOzQ7RFX0/UXinow9SVpI/AAAAAAAAAN0/q-Bn05qL9UM/s400/debbie+downer.jpg
  20. Donovan McNabb didn't know ties existed and that was something that affected him as an active player.
  21. He probably gave up some postseason grand slams. Why were there guys on base?
  22. Contention maybe, but not making the cut even for the final wild card. That's not enough. You need the existing roster to make cumulative gains still to the tune of at least 5 more Wins over the previous listings, probably more. Especially in the current division if you're strictly talking 2014. BPro was off by 10 or more games for 12 out of 30 teams in their projections this past season. Not trying because projections only put you at 85 wins ensures nothing but continued minor league forum activity.
  23. Not wanting to give up a 2nd rounder for a position of need while using it to sign a guy who may be a minor upgrade on the guy we have who is still pre-arb would really make me question the front office. Regarding Tanaka, I know you're not interested in debating finances, but until I see something stating otherwise, I have little reason to believe we can make a competitive bid on Tanaka.
  24. I don't remember which free site was the good one, but nbadraft.net has 9 out of the top 13(and 12 of the top 22) from those 4 schools. Nuts
  25. no kidding, they were really reaching for something interesting about that title win. if the giants clinch the world series at home sometime, they'll only mention in passing about how it's the 1st time since 1922 they won at home (and 1st time ever in san fran!!!!!!!!!!!!) how about this...the Cubs have never clinched a world series in Chicago. Even during their 1907-1908 dynasty, they won it in Detroit and Boston. Didn't we beat the Tigers both times? Yep, clinched both in Detroit
