  1. If my friend hadn't bought our tickets, I'd be selling these so fast.
  2. Braves attendance is pretty weak, but their season low was 18,295, and they only drew less than 20,000 in 7 games.
  3. LOL, god no. Any of Wood, DeRosa or Glanville are all solid choices imo. DeRosa was always a good interview when he was on the team, iirc. Letting Hughes do a Scully type thing where he's the only, or even the only guy most of the time with maybe having color guys stop in every few innings or games, would be fine by me too. Not to steal TT's bit, but ugh, no Vin Scully.
  4. I don't know what to think about anything. Everyone just seems so bad. I may be fully bought into Stevens though.
  5. What's the max difference in 2015 value between those two approaches? I wouldn't guess it to be all that much. Purposely keeping your best option(s) at a given position in the minors when you have no margin for error is continuing to put no priority on winning at the major league level. They will not be able to get away with doing nothing but preaching how great the farm system is, and then when Baez rakes at AAA all season keeping him down due to #poorTomRicketts. Barring injury, Javier Baez will see the majors before September.
  6. Fulton County is 44% black, Cobb County, 26.
  7. If the Cubs keep Baez and Bryant down for all of 2014 so they can keep them down for some of 2015 to push back their FA by a year then they are deciding to punt 2 more seasons. I will give odds, this is not going to happen. ETA: The comparison to Johnson/Edwards is...odd Neither cleared 120 innings last season. Neither cleared 50 innings at High A. Their situations are nothing like Baez's.
  8. Boras can yap all he wants about his track record and all, but he's getting burnt on Morales. If he winds up anywhere other than Seattle, for less than the QO, at that, I'll be shocked. But how many of the 13 players, who turned down the qualifying offers, will actually average more than $14.1M per year on their next contract? Looking at the list below, I think only Cano, Choo, Ellsbury, Kuroda and McCann will. Carlos Beltran, Robinson Cano, Shin-Soo Choo, Nelson Cruz, Stephen Drew, Jacoby Ellsbury, Curtis Granderson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Hiroki Kuroda, Brian McCann, Kendrys Morales, Mike Napoli, Ervin Santana. I'd add Beltran, Granderson, Jimenez, and Santana to that. As for the others(outside of Morales) it's still better to get a multi-year deal at 10+ per, than to take the 14.1 when all those left have significant ?'s and could have bad years and not get close to the same offer again. Napoli should clear that as well. Granderson will probably get that on a short-term deal, if he's looking 5-6, probably not.
  9. They did it with Rizzo, who ended up with 700 AAA PAs. Oh, was that the entire story?
  10. They've already said Javy starts at AAA next year. That too
  11. If I'm getting even-money odds, I'll take the under on 250. It's too easy to leave him down for service time and polish on a bad team, even if he could handle it. Service time wouldn't have anything to do with keeping him under 250. 3 months is more than enough to avoid super 2 I'm saying that once you get past the halfway point of the season, it becomes easier to wait until after next year's service-time deadlines. Why bring him up in August when you can wait until September and then hold him down for a month in 2015? Because keeping Baez at AA for a year and a half would be asinine.

  13. Go eat a sandwich by yourself
  14. There are 4 times for the presentations (Friday Noon-4:30 and Sat Noon-4:30) I'd say there were ~500 people at the 4:30 one yesterday. You could bring a couple guests, but I can't believe only 100 people had registered as of Wednesday. The Castro stuff actually came about in response to a question if you could lay the majority of the blame for his regression on previous coaching. Theo said it would be unfair to blame any one person for what happened with Starlin.
  15. And Kansas St. just lost to Northern Colorado
  16. Yeesh, Purdue was down 4 with a minut left against NOrthern Kentucky. Wound up winning by 1.
  17. Yeah, but you don't check out the minor league forum as frequently as The Logan and Ryan. Eh, by time Edwards was acquired I was in box score only mode
  18. The 2 PGs on their active roster are John Lucas and Jamaal Tinsley who is apparently still in the NBA
  19. There are so many bad NBA teams this year
  20. I was going to post about Three Amigos prior to seeing that link. I liked Pure Luck when I was a kid, but that probably doesn't hold up very well at all. And the synchronized swimming sketch on SNL you monster.
  21. Details. "If you look over the history of Chicago sports that have won titles you have Ditka, Quenneville, and even the minor league team in town had Guillen. The one thing they all have in common(started racking my brain about Quenneville's playing career at this point expecting a dumbass Sandberg question) is they all have fantastic mustaches. What are the chances you could get Rick Renteria to grow a mustache?" Great question you stupid [expletive] [expletive]
  22. S&T? Whoops strength and conditioning coach
  23. Only good take away from the q&a was that Castro knows how much he sucked this year the s&t is literally loving next door to starlin for 6 weeks at castors request
  24. Motherfucking idiots asking questions about mustaches and if they'll prioritize games against this years playoff teams left me next in line when they cut off questions
  25. Makeup plays big role on drafting and developing Renteria story about a star not running out gronder grabbed player blew him up in front of team, then pulled him under tunnel to explain why he did it in piblic
