  1. What about Bruce? I haven't seen much of anything from him on the miserable ownership of the Ricketts
  2. I mentioned it in the other thread, but I always kind of assume, "plus" to mean less valuable than the piece(s) named. Obviously if it's something like Pomeranz "plus prospects" it's different, but this to me looks like they were offering something similar to what they offered for Anderson.
  3. I have a hard time seeing this one
  4. Maybe they're under(off) the radar because their offer had friggin Pomeranz as the lead piece. I would think the fact that none of those guys are any good might limit the midseason return.
  5. Re: Texas job, I'd think Sumlin would jump at the chance to jump from FCS, but I guess he prefers big fish, little pond
  6. Is the thought that Baker was so bad last year due to a slow recovery?
  7. Or we could just sign whoever the current Endy Chavez is
  8. Shark is certainly more valuable than Anderson, but I don't think either Pomeranz or Jensen would qualify as top 100 prospects. 3 top 50 for Shark is execessive.

  10. Yep. Our offense is bad enough. Net runs are net runs. WAR is great and all, but offensive value is much easier to calculate. Cain is basically Darwin Barney of CF, which I'm not particularly interested in. Except Cain is much better at being valuable. Barney was more valuable in 2012 than any season of Cain's
  11. Either the deal involves one of Zimmer and Ventura and hopefully Almonte and then Cain is basically a really valuable throw-in (along with Crow), or it doesn't and the deal is horse [expletive]. Is this like when Fernando Perez was a really valuable throw in, and Joey Gathright was a good signing, and Tony Campana was a really valuable piece that one season?
  12. I'm not a fan of giving up assets for players who provide nothing with their bat.
  13. Couldn't find it on tv
  14. That's it? In no order for me..... Lake, Olt, Rondon, Vizcaino, Arrieta, Castillo, Rizzo, Castro, Sweeney with hopes of seeing Hendricks, Javy, KB, and Alcantara in the majors at some point. Sweeney?
  15. Anderson hasn't pitched a full season since 2009. I wouldn't give up any of our top 10 for him
  16. Didn't he specifically say 8-10 year deals? That certainly is specific
  17. The odds of not getting 20 million for him next season are pretty slim, so why not keep him for another year? This isn't their only chance to post him. $20m today is worth more than $20m next year. And the odds are far greater than "slim" that he suffers some sort of setback pitching in that league. A TJSd Tanaka might still get a 20M posting fee
  18. if they grab Choo and Tanaka, and trade Samardzija for near-ML ready pitching, I would look at this offseason as a success. Sounds like an either/or situation. Tanaka alone would be a success. Choo and a strong Samardzija trade would be a success. All 3 and I'm giddy. Agreed, I just translate all "lying in the weeds" as we have no chance based on previous "targets"
  19. But by all means, let's sit in smug satisfaction that we finally have owners that realize any deal over 2 years or 3 million is a wasteful expenditure
  20. The Yankees just [expletive] signed Jacoby Ellsbury to a 7 year deal, where is this "when the Yankees won't do it..." idea coming from???
  21. I get that we're not trying again this season, but we still need to have 3 OFs for each game. How do you who are trading Nate and Lake plan to fill out a lineup card?
  22. I don't think we've handed out 4 million in new contracts
