  1. Ruggiano What kind of bet do you have on this one? His wife's left index finger
  2. I can't wait until July when we play the Astros for 25 straight games
  3. Theo an Jed are gonna say [expletive] this and walk after 2015 too Yeah...no. Oh you're only saying that because Theos contract runs through 2016
  4. I was going to mention how Rutgers leaving helps them, but had no idea how terrible East Carolina and Tulane were. 242 and 282 in Pomeroy. UConn, Memphis, and Cincy are going to win 14 conference games in perpetuity. But at least they got to a nice round 11 teams.
  5. I guess their OT game with St. Joe's was the real national title game.
  6. I don't think it's that hard to imagine us sucking next year if we keep Samardzija either
  7. College has implemented two clocks which have significantly sped games up. It has sped them up on average 30 minutes. 1st, with no runners on, there is a 20 second pitch clock. Also, in between half innings there is a minute and a half clock. Watching a college game these days is almost startling to see how fast it is played. It's definitely a much better viewing experience. I suppose the pitch clock wouldn't be such a big deal, but the game clock would definitely hurt advertising. The minute and a half between innings is a complete non-starter
  8. Hey MLBTR don't write slash lines like that
  9. Sutton made that program and had them as an every year tourney team when Richardson came in. Richardson coached D1 for 22 years, that's a comparitively short career.
  10. What a pointless stat. On its own merits, maybe. As part of a resume to enter the HOF, hardly pointless. Putting an NIT win on a resume post-1970s is pointless You're nitpicking, but fine. At the minimum it's an interesting footnote to a HOF career. Do you think he's not worthy of that or are you just being contrary? He's probably worthy, but I wouldn't say he's a slam dunk. His career was pretty short, and Sutton left him a really good program at Arkansas.
  11. He really hasn't been that good: http://www.baseball-reference.com/japan/player.cgi?id=murton001mat

  13. What a pointless stat.
  14. Has anyone crowned Kentucky?
  15. He's a primadonna because he doesn't want to accept less money than he's worth?
  16. It's a totally outrageous paradigm.
  17. TIL that nettlesome is a word and not a terrible typo. Ricketts comes off as a clown in that Greenberg piece.
  18. The Cubs have had 18 1st round and Supplemental-1 draft picks since Mark Prior. Those 18 players have accumulated -0.6 bWAR as Cubs. Extend it to include the first 3 rounds and you have...-1.4 bWAR
  19. Wouldn't minority stakes be worth less than x% of the team valuation?
  20. Veras didn't pitch yesterday because he threw 36 pitches on Wednesday.
  21. Ain't no woman gonna tie David down
  22. Selfishly, it'd also be a little nice if the Cubs weren't [expletive] terrible for the time of my life when I have disposable income and no responsibilities
  23. I think we won the trade but...we couldn't use a young cost controlled starting pitcher??
  24. It was mostly fun during the season because you thought they had a chance to win. Because it was the best Cubs team in decades. If you knew they wouldn't win off the bat it wouldn't have been fun. Ok, but that's not how it works
