  1. I'm guessing 13 man staff will be around until Villanueva cycles into the pen in favor of Arrieta rather than have essentially an 11 man staff for those 3 days. After that...Vitters?
  2. I think CarGo was who we were supposed to get in return for a package centered around Arrieta
  3. The Ricketts buying the team (2010 = their 1st season as owners). So they're embracing 4 years of losing
  4. Is anyone besides Kenney and some scout who may have died 8 years ago but nobody noticed even still on the Cubs payroll that was here in 2004? Roast is like their 4th longest tenured employee
  5. How could they be on any terms at all, aside from Ricketts judging him from afar. Sosa left in 2004 and his contract ended in 2005. Ricketts wasn't even in negotiations to buy the team then. Unless Sammy banged his wife. I would...but only in an attempt to McCourt the team out of his control
  6. Josh Johnson to have TJS after throwing 0 pitches for the Padres.
  7. Absolutely, but more because Arrieta sucks than any great hope for Wada
  8. Tom Ricketts IS a meatball. He probably tried to invite Mark Grace back until he found out he was passed out in a dumpster somewhere He only really wanted the dumpster, though. Man's gotta eat. You can't eat empty whiskey bottles

  10. If the offseason, the cubs sign Mike Adams and Koji Uehara, maybe take a flier on Joakim Soria, it's easy to imagine this bullpen being in much better shape next year. That'll be fine as long as you don't mind Arrieta, Hendricks, Rusin as our 3-4-5 to go with the worst starting OF in baseball again
  11. "Loan" #ptr some cash
  12. Who was it UM? Chicago area?
  13. I'm not sure we could reserve the rosemont park district fields for 81 dates. #ptr
  14. Shocked at the size. That patch is hideous though
  15. Goony, what does your first paragraph refer to?
  16. I considered going for the jersey but upon further reflection realized it would probably be huge and any 30,000 other people would have the same jersey as me making me look like a tool whenever I'd wear it to a game
  17. Boy that sure was a scary 3 minutes for illinois fans back when mizzou was getting a 2 seed Indiana was #1 and Iowa looked like they might not be terrible for awhile
  18. I assume Wada has the pull to get an opt out
  19. If Arrieta has options, I'm fine just leaving him in the minors and calling up Wada before his inevitable opt-out kicks in.
  20. LOL Baez will put up a line like .080/.120/.500 in his first 50 MLB PAs. Baez does whatever the [expletive] he wants including putting up impossible BA/SLG ratios. He'll be the only person in baseball history to average 6 TB/H. I really want to see Brian McCann's face as he rounds home.
  21. I'm kinda in Kyle's camp on this one. Who knows how many bullets he has? Let's use them in the majors instead of the minors. Does it really matter? You're firing bullets on a shooting range or firing them in the air in the middle of a field.

  23. Drink when he says it's early? Too easy. Drink at every 2 word phrase that isn't "It's early?"
  24. Only John Baker has a worse OBP than Olt among Cubs position players
