    Colts also have to win. If it's Raiders-Titans-Steelers, the Titans go because of strength of victory. But if Indy wins, they knock out Tennessee because of a better divisional record. Raiders beat Indy and have strength of victory tiebreaker over Pittsburgh. Raiders also need a win by the Bears, Lions, Chiefs or Pats. The Raiders stink though. They're probably going to lose. Houston hasn't announced either way because they won't know until game time if they have something to play for. If KC wins (home to the Chargers), they get the 3 seed. But if KC loses, Houston gets the 3 seed with a win. KC plays in the early games but Houston plays later. If KC wins, Houston will rest everybody. Don't they usually arrange the schedule so games that affect each other are at the same time? Or is that only for in-out the playoffs(I see the 4 AFC games and the Eagles-Giants are playing at the same time)

    This is going to be a bad take and not popular, but I don't want the Cubs to morph into the old Steinbrenner's Yankees where we buy FAs every offseason and outspend every team. Like if Mark Cuban bought the team and allowed the Cubs to spend as much as they see fit and didn't care about making a profit... On the one hand I'm happy the players are getting more money and all the revenue is being put back into the team, but I would hate winning that way. Like it's awesome if we outbid the Yankees for Cole, but I personally would kinda hate this team if we kept doing that and had a payroll over $300 million. I'm fine with a team near the luxury tax with times going strategically over. I want the luxury tax line bumped WAY up in the next CBA discussion. Next year it will start at $208M and then goes up to $210M. I'm hoping it gets bumped up to $240M in the next CBA since teams treat it as almost a hard cap. I hate the Yankees and I hate teams that buy their way to a championship (which I know the Cubs didn't do). They should always be in the top 3-4 in spending, but I don't want them to be #1 in spending except in strategic, special offseasons. Thumbs down button press.

    The tl;dr is that going over the tax for the 2nd straight year is more like a ~25 million cost than a ~5 million cost, and doing so for a 3rd straight year is upwards of 50 million. "Putting it another way: The system in place makes it much cheaper for the Cubs to have a $207 million payroll in 2020 and then a $250 million payroll in 2021 than to have a $209 million payroll in 2020 and then a $211 million payroll in 2021. It’s an absurd extension of the way these penalties are structured, but it’s true." And then cut 35M from the 2022 payroll to get back under!!

    I think it's more likely that the Bears go 2-1 and the Vikings and Rams go 0-3 than the Bears going 3-0 while they go 1-2.

    I think a 9-7 Bears playoff team is more likely than a 10-6 one. The Eagles don't matter, they and the Cowboys are both 6-7 and they play each other. Neither one can win the wild card.

    Add teams to Orlando, Jacksonville, and Pensacola, the relegate all of Florida to AA. Florida is already in the SEC. Sweet Jesus this is fantastic, giving it a heart was not enough

    Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg, and Carlos Correa were all #1 overall picks. Verlander and Bregman were #2's, while Greinke and Rendon were both 6th in their respective years. Max Scherzer and George Springer were #11's (Springer in probably the best draft class of this century), and Trea Turner 13th in his year. The merits of tanking can be debated, but this series does not make the argument you seem to think it does. High draft picks being good doesn't = tanking works. Strasburg was drafted a decade ago, and is on his second contract. Rendon 8 years ago, and under no circumstances does a tanking team draft in the double digits. The Nats are not a tanking success story. Gerrit Cole and Justin Verlander have nothing to do with the Astros tanking.

    I feel like I'm a good person. Sometimes I feel bad that I don't care at all about either the players or the owners, other than I wish good health for them. Wishing good health for the owners probably makes you better than I. I mean I don’t necessarily wish them BAD health...
