  1. We did the same last year, and they never really made a peep about that money rolling over. That money is almost certainly gone.
  2. What's the read here? Stable as in embarrassing 2014 85M payroll stable, or stable as in we held back money this year embarrassing 100M payroll stable? The payroll thing is a little discouraging to me. I don't see how they won't spend at least a little bit this offseason, because of how low the payroll is going to be going into the offseason. Hoyer has pretty openly said they will be players in the pitching market this offseason, too. Theo's statement doesn't match, unless they're going after more Hammels and Feldmans, which would be disappointing, IMO. That said, the offense should be really fun and potentially very good, so the team won't be miserably awful in that situation. But that's just the problem. IMO, Doing nothing this offseason leaves the team as a fringe contender. If they don't make the moves to improve the team, then it'd be the worst punt of all.
  3. Here are the arb eligible players. Estimates anyone? Wood, Travis (14) $3,900,000 Arb 2 Ruggiano, Justin(14) $2,000,000 Arb 2 Valbuena, Luis (14) $1,710,000 Arb 3 Wright, Wesley (14) $1,425,000 Arb 3 Strop, Pedro (14) $1,325,000 Arb 2 McDonald, James(14) $1,000,000 Arb 3 Coghlan, Chris Arb 3 Doubront, Felix (14) $586,000 Arb 1 Arrieta, Jake (14) $544,500 Arb 1 Castillo, Welington (14) $530,000 Arb 1 Vizcaino, Arodys rhp (14) Arb 1 Wada and Baker questions seem up for debate.
  4. His bat may be MLB ready (assuming he continues to beat the crap out of the ball), but is anyone expecting him to be ready defensively by 2016? And if they think he has a chance at that, it's more of this kick the can down the road [expletive]. Uh Oh, what if everyone works out to the best case scenario? Then whatever will we do?
  5. Come on Mrs. PTR go for the divorce and end our long national nightmare.
  6. Just because you only make mental notes when Castro makes mistakes, it doesn't make it valid data. He's counting all of Cedeno's gaffes as Castro's too.
  7. And when are they expected to be in place? Well, signage will be in place next year. Who knows how much of that would go to it, though... He sounded really high on the TV deal but I got in late so I don't know if he was just talking about the 2019 one or if he was addressing the 2015+ slate as well. I was under the impression money from the signs was going back into the renovations

  9. I'm not necessarily all in on Martin, but this is so silly. We hope this guy in A ball can stick at catcher so we're going to resist upgrading the position until we know if he can handle it in 2-3 years.
  10. Are we all just assuming any bump from a new TV deal(assuming we don't just broadcast half our games radio exclusive) is going to be insignificant?
  11. If we DID, I think we'd use up both our 1st and 2nd round slot and get 2 guys. But I think the possibility is very slim we do that THIS year. Making Lester the clear cut favorite addition out of the really big names. I think we get outbid on Lester, and wind up with a Hammel type. I'm expecting payroll around 80-85M with a promise that money was held back for midseason additions if we contend. I can see that, I'm just hoping for a better outcome than that. Still, adding 30 mill of talent to what we have is intriguing, as I don't see them frittering it away like Hendry would. I'll say De La Rosa, Rasmus, and bench pieces.

  13. Everyone's been confused all season trying to look up to our highest paid player, but they haven't seen him since last July.
  14. If our 1st rounder isn't protected, I see no way we give up the pick.
  15. Brett should get that call from Vineline any day now
  16. That would be a [expletive] trainwreck. I feel bad for Abbatacola if he's not getting that shot. Mannelly's guest hosted a few times with Spiegel, and I really enjoyed it. He'll be great during the Bears season...the question is how he'll be after that. I heard him attempt to talk about the Bulls a few weeks back and it was a mess. Sounds like most Bulls fans
  17. Why would the other clubs sign off on that? Prevents Nix from getting FA showing how fucked slotting is?
  18. Lincecum's career splits are almost identical. His 1st inning numbers this year(which you wouldn't expect to be identical due to not going full out, and there is an issue of him facing the top of an order every inning) are easily his worst of any inning.
  19. So that answers that part of it...Goff going to The Game. Maybe Kaplan died? I just turned on Kap and Haugh for a few minutes for grins, and they were arguing about the ancient Manti Te'o story...timely. Guessing it's in relation to the USC story
  20. Is Baseruns proprietary? I see the link to this year's numbers, but can't find anything further on previous standings in my admittedly brief search. I'd like to see more to what he's saying rather than here are 11 teams that are in the same arbitrary range of underperformance and how they've done. Cameron has more than lost the benefit of the doubt from me when it comes to data manipulation.

  22. Dave Cameron suggested the Giants move Lincecum to closer because his numbers are better with the bases empty.
  23. Dumb nah if we get to assume that jason hammel is going to put up a sub 3 ERA for another year and a half (plus samardzija doing what he was which is less ridiculous but still unlikely), i'll go ahead and project something resembling barry larkin numbers out of russell for all the years we control him That wasn't the exercise.
  24. Huh, didn't realize how far back the White Sox fell. We have the same record now.
