  1. The only thing that ever made sense to me was having a few elite pitchers rather than a lot of above average ones due to the shortened rotations/pens. But that just seems common sense
  2. Lol at this entire page
  3. Cooper was always out of his mind before, during, and after when they'd do Coop at the Cork
  4. We had an old guy in our town who made slideshows of all the sports as just a hobby. As in nobody asked him to or wanted him to. No sport was immune from 8th grade cheerleading/track all the way up to varsity football. Dude was weird. When I was in high school he had been doing it for over 15 years. #Lowrimore
  5. I want the dongs now
  6. To recap: imb just shrugged off the past 3 seasons because who cares things will be awesome. What he did not shrug off was message board posters not being thrilled with the last 3 years.
  7. Remember how angry I was in '08 because of how terrible the Cubs were in '06?
  8. That sounds likely
  9. Wait was imb implying that jersey and I won't enjoy the Cubs winning? lol
  10. As much as you've enjoyed the last 3 years? I know what a crazy opinion it is to say that losing is bad. i haven't enjoyed the last three years, i've just done other stuff while waiting for it to pay off. voila, i wasn't even a miserable [expletive] head the entire time Do I look miserable to you?
  11. As much as you've enjoyed the last 3 years? I know what a crazy opinion it is to say that losing is bad.
  12. Everyone who was a fan of losing on purpose for 3 years will be granted immortality because the world is cruel and unjust
  13. Whoops, went from memory on Wood, was thinking he was 4.9. (And yes I realize I copied his '14 salary in my post) He's fair. I mean ultimately, worst case is it's short by 3M or so, it's a drop in the bucket.
  14. This seems irrationally optimistic. If not for injuries you're EXPECTING us to go to the playoffs 9 out of 10 seasons?
  15. And I agree with RR, I think the arb estimates are low across the board with the exceptions of Valbuena and Arrieta
  16. I don't think we'll be pursuing Scherzer. There's been next to no smoke connecting us to him
  17. That's the mid-year of their fifth season. Don't hurt yourself bending over to set the bar that low. Come on, we don't need to go through all that [expletive] again. If we're a consistent playoff team from 2016 moving forward, I'm happy enough. With the only caveat being if we don't win a WS during the regime, it's still a failure to me. Apparently we *do* need to go through it again. We really don't. If they set us up and we make the playoffs 5 times in a 10 year period, maybe 6, I'm not complaining. Especially since we'll likely not have a fall off after that either and there's no guarantee this group isn't here longer than 10 as it is. Do you mean 5 times out of 13 or 5 times out of 10?
  18. lol, The Ricketts family has the distinction of owning the worst string of Cubs teams in over 100 years. They are the epitome of "wait till next year" with next year getting pushed back to some fuzzy time in the future. And yet we're positioned to see the best run of baseball any of us has ever seen. Not everything they've done has been terrible. Other than hiring Theo Epstein, prettty much everything they've done has been terrible.
  19. I bet those guys will be cheap.
  20. I'm surprised at the near universal positivity about an interview where Theo left 15 outs for the FO should we fail to spend money this offseason
  21. We should be thankful for every dollar our generous overlords are spending.
  22. He wants them to spend $100M on 3-4 starting pitchers only half kidding I want them to spend something on something this offseason ETA: The fact that it's even posed as a possibility that we have 24 months to add starting pitching of worth, or that we are still operating under limited payroll for another 4 years is absolutely vomit inducing. Opening it all up with, hey it won't be so bad having a low payroll, we can be really good with it is alarming.
  23. ok, you've stumped me i can't figure out how even you find this excerpt disagreeable
