For the record, I predicted 4 out of 5 with the Cards like 2 weeks ago -
I think that's quite obviously true...but...who's our backup SS? Are we going to rely on Fontenot/Derosa as out-of-position backups? We did it most of the year. There's only room for one position player to be tomfooleried in. The potential playoff roster seems pretty locked to me. The 8 starters + Murton, Monroe, Pie, Fontenot, Ward, Soto, then the 4 starting pitchers + Wuertz, Wood, Eyre, Howry, Marmol, Dempster. The only real alternative I could see would be a lefty in place of Wuertz, but I kinda doubt it based on how Lou's pitched Ohman since coming back.

In the interest of fairness, Kendall may have run that pop up down. Also why Howry for Marmol? Either bring in Eyre for the lefty or leave in Marmol. I really don't get this move.

Yeah bunting was dumb dumb dumb there. Also, I obviously wasn't happy to see it, but it was hard to not see the humor in Kendall making an error on the throw to first on the dropped 3rd strike after the fuss that was raised over my innocent comment in the game 1 thread yesterday.

What separates Piniella and other top managers is they are a step ahead of the rest of the league and fans. Lou is managing the team as if they are going to the playoffs, the only way to manage, so he is riding his veterans and insisting on those others in roles do their job. in the playoffs Z and Lilly will be asked to pitch on three days rest anyway...so he is seeing what he's got and this way he has both Trachsel and Marshall ready for a long relief anyway. Unless Lou goes to a 3 man rotation, Lilly and Z won't be pitching on 3 days rest.

1 out of 30. Reinsdorf, and even that's really just what Selig wants too, so basically 0 out of 30. So, 29 out of the 30 owners have to approve? No my point is the owners will approve/deny what Selig wants. It's a dictatorship. There's a few that will vote on their own (Steinbrenner, maybe Angelos), but it's not enough to overcome what Bud wants.

Notre Dame's offensive line was what I was most concerned about heading into the year, and I look rather correct, they are in a word pathetic. And I hate the crap offensive lines take because they almost never get credit for being good, but good Lord they're terrible. I pity the Notre Dame defense, they've been on the field the whole damn game.

Looking at ND's schedule, they'll be lucky to win oneto 3 games this year. The only shot the have is aganist Navy, Air Force, and Duke. Stanford's worse than Navy and Air Force.
