  1. At Wrigley, it's really not a terrible deal when you figure what a beer would cost you in surrounding bars for a prime time/location.
  2. Just from the blurb it sounds like auctioning those seats off as a corporate box type thing?
  3. What's "WRONG" with Colvin that makes so many people cool with throwing him in? I mean... it seems like some here would discard him without a second thought. Looking at his numbers, he looks like a good prospect. I'm not all that excited about trading away strong potential for a minor upgrade at 2nd base. Maybe I'm off base on his potential. Most people's problems with Colvin is his BB/K ratio which is pretty horrible. I'm not ready to write him off(not to say most are writing him of altogether) yet, but if he doesn't improve the BB/K ratio(even slightly) it's going to be tough to maintain top prospect status. I think another problem people have with him is that a lot of his value is tied to his ability to play CF where he is blocked by a superior prospect in Pie. EDIT: just pointing out that while talking about a player's Ks at the major league level is usually pointless, high K numbers in the minor levels without the BBs to go with it is a red flag.
  4. Cause he doesn't go over to Bud Selig's house to dine on human flesh once a week.
  5. When 2 of those starters are highly regarded, one being one of the highest regarded prospects in baseball last season, it makes sense. Again, I'm not saying that they can even compete in the Central, I am only saying that they can compete with the Cubs, currently a mediocre team playing in the worst division in the worst league in baseball.. The last time Gavin Floyd was highly regarded Alex Gonzalez was our starting SS.
  6. Again, a great deal locking up a pre-arb player. The risk is a lot greater doing it with pitchers instead of hitters, but this deal is great. I'd love to get Hill signed to a simliar deal.
  7. I'd bet money on Soto and Fukudome outperforming their counterparts on offense. Factoring in defense makes it no contest.
  8. ah so i guess because the team that one follows sucks, you inherently know nothing about the sport? looks like when it comes to baseball, we are all ignorant. Nope, based on the Penn St. basketball fans randomly showing up for 5 posts per basketball season, and usually not knowing much about the team beyond Claxton.
  9. Just move to Chicago? And that White Sox OF defense might be the worst OF defense known to man. Rodriguez/Sosa/Hill bad.
  10. I'm pretty sure they stole the templates for these from a McDonald's ad campaign.
  11. All you Penn State fans can stop pretending like you know anything about basketball now that Claxton is hurt.
  12. The Bears defense took that team to the Super Bowl in spite of Rex Grossman. The Giants have won in the playoffs because of Eli Manning playing well. Eli's played well, I wouldn't say he took the Giants to the Super Bowl.
  13. It's random when they pull you out of the virtual waiting room. Cubs/Sox tickets are particularly rough. If you get in for them or Cards games do best available, if you pick a specific section, you can wind up getting booted back out after choosing a section that winds up oversold.
  14. Trading away Marquis might be the best part of any Roberts deal if it happened. marquis was pretty lucky last year. if we could somehow pawn him off on someone who actually thinks he has value, please for the love of God get rid of him. His ERA was under 5 last season. The Orioles don't have many guys like that. Never should've traded Trachsel away.
  15. Weber did it first. And Pearl's a scumbag. Ummm, Weber did it first? Perhaps someone should tell that to Ray Mears, who did it in the 60's for the Vols, and is the reason why Pearl does it now. Got me on that, was not aware. Thanks for not contending Pearl being a scumbag. :)
  16. I'm almost positive UD Box are more expensive than Terrace Reserved. I think they cost more than Terrace Box too. Still the better choice by far.
  17. Hanley Ramirez disagrees I did use the word "if" Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Hanley's defense wipe out about 75% of his offensive wins, similar to Braun? While I don't know that to be true or untrue, they did say "offensive SS," FWIW. Just cause he stands in between 3rd and 2nd base with a glove on his hand, and is penciled in as 6 on the scoresheet, it doesn't make him a shortstop.
  18. Can you or anyone else elaborate? Can't seem to remember any issues in the 200s. Also, can anyone provide the link to the site to view Wrigley seats? Thank you. 200s are the worst seats in the park. Beyond the obstruction from the poles supporting the upper deck, they're set far back and you don't really feel very close to the action. 500 levels are better
  19. Rex Grossman took his team to the Super Bowl at the age of 26.
  20. Eli's gonna be embarrass himself in front of everybody. EDIT: Horrible sentence, but I'm okay with that.
  21. One has to imagine that with all the consternation over the center field position since Corey petered out, if the Cubs at all felt Murton was a viable defensive option in center field they would have tried it by now beyond one emergency inning. Oh, I'm not trying to say Murton as a CF is a viable alternative. I'm just saying Murton in the 10 games a year you want to give Pie a break in CF is better than Byrd anywhere on the team.
  22. Weber did it first. And Pearl's a scumbag.
