  1. The frustration mostly stems from the fact that they won't play Pie regularly, and there's no damn reason for it.
  2. Reed Johnson isn't playing well you [expletive].
  3. He never drives the ball, he has no power  Reed Johnson heading into today was 159th out of 177 when it came to SLG% (125 PA min.) He's fine as a CF against lefties. That' it.
  4. Nah, Henry was a type C free agent. The Twins got a supplemental pick(after the 2nd round I wanna say?) It's believed the Cubs purposefully signed him early to pay back the Twins for not holding up the Nomar trade over the prospect they were supposed to get but never did.(Possibly from the Red Sox)
  5. I have every reason to believe it'd be a strict platoon, the Cubs love Reed Johnson, and it'd be the majority portion of the platoon. Reed Johnson 2007: .236 .305 .320 Reed Johnson 2007 vs. righties: .202 .275 .237 Jim Edmonds still has value to a team trotting Reed Johnson out as their CFer vs. righties. Cesar Izturis had value to the team that was trotting Neifi Perez out there every day.
  6. If you can name the Astros rotation off the top of your head, I don't know what to tell you.
  7. Yup. I can't stand missing games because of work. I don't mind this tradition dying. I'd rather let the games pass the time at work and have my nights free.
  8. I probably won't get to Wrigley this year. :( I'll be at the game in Milwaukee on July 31st, though. You live in SE Wisconsin, no excuse.
  9. Hardly. Edmonds wants to stick it to the Cardinals in the worst way. He feels slighted about being dumped, kind of like Grace did when the Cubs let him go. If Edmonds steps up his game like Grace did when he left, then Edmonds will be exactly as awful as he is right now. Hopefully Edmonds has some extra "wants to stick it to" inside him.
  10. Carl Crawford plays LF. In terms of CF, I'd absolutely prefer the following players: Carlos Beltran BJ Upton Grady Sizemore Curtis Granderson Josh Hamilton Chris Young plus Alex Rios Carl Crawford(I know he plays left, but Im sure he could manage) Melky Cabrera Carlos Gomez Ichiro Nate McCLouth Aaron Rowand Carlos Gomez at best = Felix Pie.
  11. geez, you're obnoxious. Well, since you volunteered to be such a smart ass without being addressed......your mindless tripe never has any meaningful baseball insight. Have you ever even played the game? Or do you just like watching it in mom's basement? Ok, what mod edited this post to say this?
  12. The problem with this is that unless Pie pulls a Soto 2007 out of his ass, 2009 isn't going to happen for Pie either. We can't have an untested CF going into the season, we saw how well that worked out doing it in '08! We'll sign some horrible retread to show him the ropes, and Felix will wind up being dumped off for pennies on the dollar after Nook Logan hits 300 for 2 weeks.
  13. That's what I'm counting on Soul. It's just a brilliant motivational technique for Pie. He'll go 3-for-3 with two walks tonight, and this will all go away. Right? You actually think Pie will play tonight? Yeah, Marquis is starting so he can't pinch run for Ward.
  14. Marquis's contract was utterly absurd.
  15. yeah, also the same idiots who were saying that rich hill and geovany soto could be productive major league players if the cubs would give them a chance. AND WHERE'S RICH HILL NOW HUH???? IF GEO COULD PLAY HE'D BE HITTING HIGHER THAN 6TH, BUT NO ALL THE GENIUS STATBOYS AROUND HERE KNOW BETTER THAN LOU *SNORT*
  16. BECAUSE 38 YEAR OLDS AREN'T ON THE UPSWING OF THEIR CAREERS LIKE 22 YEAR OLDS???
  17. Just as the talk about Theriot was based largely on his #s last year(and his minor league track record), Edmonds didn't hit last year, and is clearly VERY OLD.
  18. Dude, if you have the choice between someone whose proven they suck and someone who might suck...you gotta go with the proven vet. No need to take those chances. Estes didn't start over Cruz in that game. We needed a 6th starter due to a doubleheader(in Pittsburgh maybe?)
  19. 1,627-1,512. That's a .518 winning percentage. If you remove the Tampa Bay years, which were some of the worst teams ever assembled, his winning percentage goes to .538. What's Dusty Baker's? And make sure to remove the '06 Cubs cause that was a horrendous team.
  20. So... since the players have covered for Lou's mistakes, he's excused for all of them? its easy to "arm chair" manage.....lous record this year, and over his career show that he knows what he is doing...im not trying to be mean, but hey, a win is a win, and if the cubs are in first, to me, im happy about it.....thats all im saying..... So Dusty Baker was a good manager in '03?
