    That wasn't his reasoning for Jacque. It was that he'd never had him on his team before so he had to give him the chance against lefties to see how he'd do. It was so maddening that he wouldn't even believe a stat so simple and factual as Jacque Jones being horrendous against lefties. He had to watch him flail personally.(And even then didn't bench him much. But if you gave Dusty Edmonds he'd be in there. Plus, who else could play RF last year that hit right handed? Dusty said that in '06 when asked about platooning Jacque. I've done my best to wipe '06 from my memory, so I don't really remember who could've platooned out there with him, but I'm guessing something coulda been done.

    If they start to drop I'm sure they could recoup some of those chips and get something for Tejada and whatever assets they have. Ed Wade would just trade him for Tim Worrell though.

    Edmonds should retire, but is a horrible justification for why. And Mussina isn't striking out anyone, but he's definitely got some value.

    The Cardinals were way better when they've pulled this before. There's no Scott Rolen or non-decrepit Jim Edmonds on this team. There's no healthy Chris Carpenter ready to put up a cy young season.

    The Astros, no question have one of the best hearts of the lineup in baeball, but theres nothing else on that team the set them apart from the rest of the pack. They threw too much money at Roger Clemens in '05 and '06 that they could have been using the build a better team, and now they're paying the price. I might question that they have one of the best 3-4-5s in baseball. Without thinking it over too much you've got Utley-Howard-Burrell, Chipper-Tex-McCann, Braun-Fielder-Hart, Holliday-Helton-Atkins, and dare I say Lee-Ramirez-Fukudome are all at least comparable. And that's NL only.

    At least the Brewers are losing. Ned Yost can't possibly have a job for much longer. Therein lies the downside. I'm hoping the Brewers can win a couple series in a row to prolong the Yost regime... Him being there for the remainder of the season (in conjunction w/ the loss of Gallardo & the inevitable Sheets injury) would pretty much guarantee that the Brewers won't be in the hunt come September. If they stay in the hunt through the deadline maybe they can trade LaPorta for Huston Street. Doug Melvin's probably too good to pull that, but it'd be nice.

    The Astros have no pieces to acquire any help at the deadline. That and they have about 3 starting pitching spots to fill. The Astros are no damn good.

    Can somebody explain the soap dropping thing? Where did it come from? Prison. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Don't+drop+the+soap! I don't remember where the Cubs part comes in though. The prison part was obvious. I was wondering how it got started on this board. f aprostrophe n was censored to become "I Dropped the Soap!" It made no grammatical sense when a part of sentences, i.e. I hate the I Dropped the Soap! Cardinals. So I started purposely writing it so that it made sense. i.e. I hate the soapdropping Cardinals. It's to my knowledge the only thing of "value" I've done here in the past 4 years.

    Swinging at every junk pitch a reliver throws at you when your team could really use more offense isn't the best way to earn more playing time. He saw that hitting 400 didn't work, he thought he'd try something new.

    Grabow's a better pitcher than Salas, but it seems weird to be okay letting a lefty face Soriano to get the lefty-lefty advantage on Hoffpauir.

    Um, wow. I'd love to take the under on Gomez reaching either of their productions, let alone having the potential to exceed them. Gomez has speed and defense on them, and that's about all I can see. His BB rate is horrendous, and he doesn't make nearly enough good contact to back that K rate.

    I think that was more of an example why the 9th isn't always the most important inning. I would guess it's roughly normally distributed between all 9 lineup possibilities.
