  1. Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?
  2. born and raised in a suburb 45 minutes south of chicago until i was 18. A southsider. Figures. :P I won't stand for that besmirching. Sounds like a Joliet-er to me.
  3. He said Indiana is not irrelevant, which is true when viewed in a historical context when looking at a top program suffering through a painful low point next year, but he said he's not talking historical, I'm really confused where he's coming from.
  4. Who on the roster should Lou have put in left field? Reed Johnson. Not that I'm saying they should, but if you wanted a defensive replacement, you obviously move Johnson to LF, Edmonds to CF.
  5. I don't think it really matters to a pitcher if they go: start, off day, off day, side session, off day, start or if they go: start, off day, side session, off day, off day, start It's still essentially the same thing. The fact that he got taken out a little early of Friday's night game probably helped as well. Now if the game had continued, my gut feeling would be that Volquez would have thrown 20-25 more pitches. That would have been a problem. The amount he threw though was a decent side session. I doubt there's anyway to prove it, but those are high-stress pitches he was throwing, making it tougher than just an ordinary side session. As I mentioned though, it's hard to blame Baker for the 2 innings. It's the likelihood that he would've went another 3 that's the problem.
  6. Yes, Indiana basketball is relevant, just as I said. Illinois is not. What are you not comprehending? Clearly something, because if you had understood what I said, the entire second sentence of your response would have been unnecessary. How is a team with 2 returning scholarship players relevant? Illinois is a borderline tourney team next year, but I think even even the homer-iest of IU fans would tell you Illinois is a better team next year and '09 barring some big gets by Crean.
  7. yes, please. so we'll move fukudome to center for hoffpauir, but not for murton? ok. Where the hell is Murton on the OF depth chart these days? Is he the 11th outfielder? Well, we've got the guys on the 25-man (Soriano, Johnson, Fukudome, Edmonds, Hoffpauir, DeRosa. Then you've got Pie and Patterson in AAA. Ward on the DL. So 10th or 11th depending on whether we want to count Cedeno's 5 day trial run practicing CF before Lou got distracted by a blue car that drove by. That or counting any decroded piece of crap that's unsigned who can come in to play instead of Murton.
  8. Indiana '08 basketball is relevant and Illinois '08 isn't? I don't expect a Tennessee basketball fan to know much about the college game besides having an overrated team that goes nowhere in the tourney, but I'd expect one to know about the biggest profile coaching change of the year, along with the repercussions that came with it.
  9. Probably the only time I can say "ass on balls" and not get yelled at too.
  10. 14/43 and a win. I can't wait to move out of this hellhole.
  11. I mentioned it in the game thread, but I really wanted to see how things would play out come the 21st inning or so. Not that I could really blame Dusty by that point.(I'd probably have punted this game and pitched Freel or whomever rather than bring back Volquez 2 days after he started. But this(2 innings at least) is probably somewhat defensible(that a word?)
  12. Soriano was certainly a good fielder last year. He was just total ass on balls to the wall. This year he has been a bad fielder.
  13. That was disappointing, I just picked it up on gameday in the top of the 18th. I was pulling for a few more innings leading to either a shameless Dustying of Edinson's arm(the least fun), Cueto pitching on consecutive days thus having a team use all 25 players, or ideally, Volquez/Cueto as a LF with Ryan Freel pitching in a tie game.
  14. The graph only doesn't go lower because it only changes after each play is completed. The win expectancy was about 99.5% 1 second after the ball was hit.
  15. The official scorer needs to be tracked down and bludgeoned. On the other hand it does help my fantasy team.
  16. Wrong thread, this is for discussion of Indiana and Illinois basketball.
  17. I don't think he had a lot of choice. Those guys didn't have the grades.
  18. In a way in that they're not really like each other at all.
  19. If Dusty pulled that crap that Lou pulled yesterday, we'd still be referencing it to reds44.
  20. Metra to Union Station (225 S. Canal), Then it's about a mile walk to the Jackson red line stop. (230 S. State) Take the red line north bound (toward Howard) train gets off right across from Wrigley at the Addison stop.
  21. . Our closer has 3 saves in one run games, with 4 BLOWN SAVES. That's pretty good in their minds. Aim low, you'll always be satisfied. Top of my head, I think 50% in 1 run saves is about league average. Of course, I don't even know why I'm bothering with you.
  22. I think I'd rather have Edmonds in CF.
  23. O_O I gotta disagree with your classifciation of Grieve and Hollandsworth. Hollandsworh was a great bench guy, he fit into the profile of the Cubs not realizing the difference between a good bat off the bench and a good bat playing every day. As far as Grieve he was fine for us, being a bat who actually had a patient approach and could drive the ball a bit.
