    If kids are so resilient why do psychologists always hunt for something in your childhood that explains why you are so screwed up now? have you been watching Frazier again? I have. And i got to say its more depressing than watching the Cubs suck. Haven't seen a more boring TV show. (actually i may have but im not sure.) Frasier's a great great show.

    He has better control of the slider. He hasn't really been hanging it. When he's had trouble it's been that he hasn't thrown strikes, not that he's getting hit hard.

    And we've been hovering around 20 games over for a long time, something like 2 months You're missing the fun of arbitrary start points. The Cubs are 40-28 in that timeframe.

    To be honest, I still don't understand why a split would be the best thing. I've been rooting for a sweep the whole time, and while I preferred a Cardinals sweep, a Brewers sweep isn't too bad either. Brewers sweep is bad because they're much better than the Cardinals.

    Any by "long man" you mean pitch for 2 innings in a blowout and then get 10 days off. Well when you have 4 of them, it's hard to get them all consistent work.

    Edmonds did not have less than a .375 OPS when the Cubs picked him up. I think he had a -10 OPS+ somewhere along the way He had a negative OPS+ (Cubs stats only) about a week into his Cub career.

    I mean seriously, 1985? Go look up their page on BR. Is there a single spot on that team that's better than the corresponding spot on this team? You've got Sandberg and that's it. Everyone loves the 84-85/03-04 comparisons because of out of nowhereness and injuries to a pitching staff the following year derailing things. The better comparison is 84 to '01 in that they were 2 teams, that really had no right being as good as they were, and were prone for a fall off the next year because neither of those teams ever really shoulda been that good to begin with.
