  1. FALSE Cubs have 10 games left If Cubs go 0-10, Brewers need to go 8-0 to force a tie If Cubs go 1-9, Brewers are eliminated Doesn't look all that likely that they'll be playing more than 9 games. As we just established in our AIM chat: mikeak21 (AF) (10:23:37 PM): we're not gonna have to play that game in HOU on the 29th are we? UMfan83 (10:24:29 PM): nope LMAO! But we'll still need 10 games if the Cubs lose 9 and the Brewers win 8. You still have to include it in the equation even if its nearly impossible that 10th game will be played. So I guess we should add, if the Cubs win 1 game, they will play only 161 games. Bah, who cares... Lets just win tomorrow and clinch! Well, if the Phillies and Brewers choke it away while the Astros win out, we'd still have to play it. Though it would be the Iowa Cubs playing it.
  2. Not good. It's looking like a first round date with Cole Hamels and the Phillies is inevitable. If the Mets hold on against ATL they'll have a 1 game lead in the loss collumn and also hold the tie breaker, essentially giving them a 2 game lead. Between Moyer and Hamels (lefties who throw good change ups) the Phillies scare the crap out of me. Really, we're afraid of Jamie Moyer now? 5.23 ERA over 10.1 Innings this season, 7.20 last year over 5. Shockingly, no playoff team is going to throw Phil Dumatrait against us, so if we're gonna be afraid of old mediocrities like Moyer, then we might as well pack it in now, cause he's one of the worst starting pitchers on a playoff roster.
  3. Bob talks about Wolf's home/road splits, completely ignoring the fact that Wolf pitched much of the year in the best pitcher's park in baseball.
  4. This is some bad picture quality.
  5. yep, not exactly cool Oh well 12 months after TJS. I wouldn't make anything of it. Well, if the guy gets hurt or doesnt do good next year it's time to cut your losses. I mean, he's been a huge disappointment for the Cubs. Cut what losses??? He has an option year remaining for next year, so if he can't hack it in ST you send him to AAA. He's costing the Cubs next to nothing and has a higher ceiling than most everyone else in the system.
  6. They couldn't even if they all cleared. Players must be somewhere in the organization as of 9/1. Mike Lamb for example can't be on the Brewers playoff roster if they made it. Cub related ones are Orlando Merced in '98, Bill Mueller with the Giants in '02.
  7. Why can't people just enjoy the song? What's the rush to be the first person to post a pointless, cynical comment? Good Christ. Hmmm, re-reading that it sounds familiar. Didn't we have a flame war like 2 years ago about Pearl Jam? Was this a reference to that? Good Christ, you're right! Huh guess it was only like 8 months ago. Of course it was CT who started it.

  9. It's at least for NLDS and NLCS.
  10. That's exactly what they've been doing for the past week, isn't it? Those damn Cubs. hey this ain't over pal, anything can happen!!! They're the Cubs after all1!!! 1969!!
  11. I really like Matt Cain and think Fielder will eat his way out of the league by the age of 32, but what a great trade for the Giants.
  12. IT'S RAINING SHOES
  13. Whatchu talkin' 'bout, Willis? I hated the way he was treated around here, and felt genuinely sorry for the guy because of it. This was the team he grew up cheering for and he was treated like garbage pretty much from the first blown save onward. No, he didn't help himself with the way he handled the media, but he was a pretty fragile guy, and that's just the way he was. Not everyone is Sammy Sosa with the press. Then the fact the guy is booed mercilessly every time he's come back. Let it go people, there've been far worse criminals against the Cubs than this guy that are let off without a peep when they come back. He cemented himself for me last year with Colorado during some brutal storm where the groundscrew got blown down and the tarp flew up and he was the only guy in the Rockie dugout to come out and help hold it down along with most of their opponent's players. He's a genuinely good guy who is forever hated by the team that he loves. It sucks for him.
  14. He should rent the roof to Torco. Whatever the hell that is.
  15. Again, I'd be stunned if Lou goes with 10 pitchers.
  16. Dammit, I liked LaTroy.
  17. I mean seriously, how can all 3 of these announcers be that braindead to not realize that turning the ball over on downs with 20 seconds left at the 50 yard line is a bad idea?
  18. YOU'RE ALL MORONS ESPN EVERY ONE OF YOU!!! It's 4th down here, you don't call the time out and give Colorado the ball back at midfield. IDIOTS YOU'RE ALL IDIOTS.
  19. If the Astros were on the road that weekend this would be a non-story. You wouldn't hear a damn word about the players needing to be home with their families. This whole woe is us, how dare you make us play baseball at a time like this is a crock of Howry.
  20. You know what though? Much as I want to have fun with that, it sounds very, very familiar. Can you guess where you could find comments that are almost carbon copies of those? I honestly thought they were quotes from a 2004 game thread up until I saw Counsell's name.
  21. Especially Rich Harden.
