  1. OSU doesn't have any bad losses, but they've only beaten 2 lock tourney teams(Butler and Purdue). Doesn't torpedo them, but I think it means they have to beat NU this weekend, and win 2 in the BTT to lock themselves in. 20-10 and they'd be at the mercy of other conference tourneys. I think they win though.
  2. As I said I was being conservative as possible. When we've done this in the past, I start with as inclusive a pool of teams as possible, and work backwards from there. ND St., I'm not seeing it, but I left that out there cause I'd be willing to hear an argument at least. Same with Cleveland St./Milwaukee Davidson I've still got right on the bubble because one of those 2 bad losses was without Curry. If they lost in the title game of their tourney, I'd at least consider them. I'd likely put Niagra/Siena out, but like Davidson, I'm willing to consider them with a run to their title game. I'm willing to consider Northern Iowa. Pretty sure I agree with you on the A-10. Temple just has too many bad losses. I think I've got Rhode Island over Dayton right now. I don't really care much for St. Mary's or the West Coast conference, but if the bubble's weak and Patty Mills looks good in his 2 games back, they might make it. Agreed on UAB. One (utterly unlikely) scenario is Houston beating Memphis tomorrow, and then again in the C-USA tourney before falling to UAB in the finals. 2 wins against Memphis would at least put them in the conversation(even though I'm not wild about Houston and think Memphis is pretty overrated) Agreed on MWC. I'm not that big on Utah, but somebody has to take up the 34 spots.
  3. What the hell is Crean doing? Call the timeout right away or let them play. You just wasted 8 seconds not setting up a shot.
  4. Foul on Mateen Cleaves.
  5. I don't disagree. However, I also have issues with assigning too much weight to one "bad loss." Multiple such losses, sure. One isolated game isn't terribly predictive. Michigan State won the 2000 National Championship but lost to No. 187 Wright State (using kenpom). Syracuse won the 2003 National Championship but lost to No. 104 Rutgers. North Carolina won the 2005 National Championship but lost to No. 125 Santa Clara. Point taken, though to be fair, I only really tiebroke with that, because those 4 teams are really really similar. Regarding SOS, I don't see a lot of difference from 20 to 55. If there's a huge difference, yeah there should be punishments/rewards handed out, but when the schedule differences can bet the difference between scheduling a few teams with RPIs in the 160s instead of a few teams with RPIs in the 300s then it's not that big of a deal. It's smart scheduling for sure, and I've complained/lauded my team in the past for scheduling properly/improperly based on the noncon, but in the end a cupcake is a cupcake whether they're the 150th best team or the 320th best team. I understand the point of looking at things in a vaccuum like above, but the things I stated above are why I like to look at actual schedules as much as possible. I don't see a difference between beating the 150th best team by 5 and beating the 320th best team by 35. The latter is actually probably more impressive. I know I'm speaking in strictly hypotheticals, but just pointing out there are flaws in any using any one stat. Mostly I'm just rambling I guess.
  6. Wisconsin's another example(though not last 12 specific) of a team that people would say got hot late. They didn't start playing better, they just started playing an easier schedule.
  7. The last 12 stuff bothers me because schedules are so unbalanced from one team to the next. Marquette's the perfect example. Their last 12 is gonna look mediocre because they ended the season playing UConn, Pitt, Louisville, and Syracuse. They won't have those losses at the end of the year because they went cold. They'll have those losses because they had to play the 3 best teams in the conference at the end of the year.(That and they lost James)
  8. I was gonna say C-A-B-D until I heard A beat C. I think I'll go A-C-B-D. I don't put much stock in last 12/10, and I put a lot of stock in bad losses.
  9. My 1 bid conferences, no matter what happens:(Being as conservative as possible, though a few of the ones I omitted would take one hell of an argument to get me to see 2 teams from it.) SWAC, MEAC, NEC, Patriot, Big South, Ivy, Atlantic Sun, OVC, America East, Sun Belt, Big Sky, Southland, MAC, Big West, Colonial
  10. Juan Pierre is not an average CF. First off he's playing LF. Secondly he neither hits nor fields like an average CF. His only above average skill(of particular importance) right now is his baserunning
  11. Yeah, let's stop talking about everyone unless they are currently a Cub.
  12. Just arguing. The next thing after Friday is going to be Monday (rank top 16 locks and top 16 potentials...the real committee does it in 4's, but we don't have that kind of dedicated time online). Alright, I'll get some preemptive arguing in over the next couple days.
  13. Yeah, I'll be out of town from late Thursday til possibly Sunday. I'll send mine in before I leave Thursday night. Is there anything to be submitted this weekend? Or just arguing?
  14. notice the common theme in the two fights.... Between Illinois-Indiana and Duke-UNC? I understood what you meant, but I could see how people could be confused. The Illinois-Missouri fighting has created a lot more posts than the Duke-UNC sniping and is the only true rival to the Illinois/Indiana battle on here. Yeah, but the Illinois-Missouri fighting seems a lot more light-hearted to me. I can't imagine anyone being too annoyed by it.
  15. notice the common theme in the two fights.... Between Illinois-Indiana and Duke-UNC?
  16. And you guys thought Illinois-Indiana fighting was annoying.
  17. I assumed this was for basketball, and went to make a laughing post that Missouri hasn't swept Iowa St. since the '98-'99 season. Then I found out it was football, which was kinda disappointing. It is called the Telephone Trophy though, so I can definitely laugh at that.
  18. oh no we're getting smoked by a very good kansas team at the phog what a big surprise. i wonder if illinois would score 20 at kansas. Sensitive much? I'm sure UI would score at least 35-40. But KU sure wouldn't get much more than 50-60. I fail to understand why people who are fans of other conferences don't realize that scores are low in the B10 because teams play defense, and not because players are inept at putting the ball in the basket. We scored 62 @ MSU when we sucked early in the season. I think we could put 60 up pretty comfortably against UI @ Phog. MSU plays at a way faster pace than we do, and we're getting slower by the day.
  19. Missouri fans should really find some other team to pick a fight with when they're upset.
  20. Ed Hightower can kiss my [expletive] ass. [expletive] mug for the camera [expletive]. We weren't gonna win anyway, but why have the game end like that on a [expletive] flagrant?
  21. oh no we're getting smoked by a very good kansas team at the phog what a big surprise. i wonder if illinois would score 20 at kansas. I wonder if Mizzou would beat Illinois on a neutral court.
  22. I really don't want out 33 point effort to look any worse, so if you can win that'd be great.
  23. You've gone soft. TIJAN JOBE SCORED!!
