  1. Oh is this the I was a big time athlete speech from Illiniguy? How was basketball at D3 bumbleF University? There's a big difference between making an honest assessment of how somebody fits into a system, say a pocket QB committed to an an option system, and coming in and telling a kid, I don't care that you committed to the program, get your ass out of here, and take a nice mandated year off from college ball while you're at I'm just gonna be a spaz like you and assume they're all going to decommitt. Or realize that there's already a player who will have used 4 years of a scholarship by then. Or realize there's a slight difference between being oversigned by 1 2 years ahead of time and attempting to run off 3-4 kids right away to bring kids with you that committeed to another school already. Like it or not, when a kid signs with a school, he's not expecting to be trying out for the team every summer. If it's so widely accepted among kids and coaches, why do teams ever have less than 13 on scholly? These kids who are so understanding and actually appreciative of being run off a team, should love the chance to go get a scholarship for a year and then get the privilege of sitting out for a season before moving on to Hofstra.
  2. I'd rather win the Humanitarian Bowl than lose in the Rose Bowl.
  3. I kinda have that issue too. I'm not sure what I'm in for.... plus, my kid would have to sleep in a drawer. thats ok, they would adapt. Kids are resilient.
  4. Nice Job PSU.
  5. I thought Cal pretty much came right and said this in his first interview. He said something to the extent if the guys can't play he will not give them a free ride. Makes sense. UK hired him to win and in order to do that he has to have the guys that can play. Yeah, coaches often will encourage a player to transfer or decommit if that player doesn't fit the new coach's system. I know Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin did that when they got to Tennessee. Well if those 2 aren't the moral standards to hold a coach up to, I don't know who is. It is NOT COMMON to run players off when you come to a new school.
  6. And then they traded the rest for Miguel Tejada.
  7. So you're saying Calipari's already forcing kids out
  8. He'd be stupid to turn it down. And Memphis is stupid to offer it.
  9. Soriano's range grades out as pretty decent IIRC. It's why the idea of removing a non-gimpy Soriano from games at the end is ridiculous.
  10. Doing thing the right way Tom Crean took Nick Williams from Marquette.
  11. I still don't know who they hired or if they hired anyone. They haven't hired anyone. ETA: Tim Floyd is in Tucson meeting with the Arizona AD as we speak. So that's why he agreed to sign Lil Romeo
  12. But you gotta admit, the Marlins were buffoons to trust a guy who was 1 for 3, 33%!!! in save opportunities to begin with.
  13. I thought that was a little bit of self-deprecating humor. It can't be legit.
  14. Hot tip guys, look for Rick Pitino to head to replace Norm Roberts at St. John's. Pitino was said to be swayed by their winning tradition, and their promise to let his stupid kid flame out for a couple seasons before getting S-canned
  15. I see what you're saying but there's a big difference in Umass and Memphis. There's actually tradition here. There were good times before Calipari. Plus the facilities he's helped build here are top notch. wasn't basketball invented on the campus of umass? Winning tradition. More or less so than Oregon St.?
  16. I think they should hire Bruiser Flint.
  17. RedFlash wants CNS to coach basketball too.
  18. the next coach(Rick Pitino). Hahahaha The Memphis paper is reporting that Memphis may be willing to put a succession clause in Pitino's contract saying his son will take over after he retires. Plus they'll make him the highest paid coach in college basketball. yeah, still not going to happen. kentucky fans are still obsessed with pitino. if he wanted that job, he could have had it. he robbed the celtics organization blind, i don't think money is an object to him. Maybe not. But I guarantee he'll listen. And money is always an object. Except for John Calipari.
  19. I love John Calipari. Probably one of the greatest people, not just coaches, people I've ever seen.
  20. It went to hell before that. He posts a 6.75 ERA in 4 relief innings in Peoria and ends up back in extended. No reason a first round pick can't stick in low-A ball in his second full season in the system. cough Josh Vitters cough. So it's your belief that Vitters will be sent to extended spring training this year?
  21. This seemed obvious after they picked up some recruit in the past month or so.
  22. Absolutely. The team that finished tied for 4th in the Big Ten beat the team that finished tied for 9th in the Big East (who also has a history of sucking beyond belief in the city of New York), so it's settled. He wasn't serious, but it's pretty disingenuous to say that about PSU when they were clearly viewed as the 8th best Big Ten team by the tourneys.
  23. Braun doesn't play for the Cardinals, so what does it matter?
  24. Calipari's been the head coach of as many teams over the past 20 years as Saban has in the past 10. But, you honestly think people are going to refrain from taking shots at Calipari. I don't think anybody likes the guy outside of the fans of the team he's coaching(as long as it's college)
