  1. Unfortunately, also going on recent history, they will go off in the second half and still make the playoffs. :x
  2. I like me some Mike Barrett. See quote featured in sig.
  3. I started a thread a few weeks back speculating that Williamson may be the odd man out in the pen and one of Hendry's bargaining chips in a trade. Almost everyone disagreed with me at the time. To date, I rarely hear his name mentioned by Hendry and until recently by Baker as a guy in the pen for the Cubs this year. If the Cubs decide prior to the season that they need some more offense--in a platoon situation for Jones-- I believe Williamson may be the one to go. I thought about that thread when I read the Suntimes article this morning. My fear of trading Williamson is that the club won't get back enough talent to offset what he potentially could provide. His contract is only for this year, and only for two million. If he pitches at all like he used to that's a good deal.
  4. Nice link. Seems there is a difference in a torn and frayed labrum. Reading parts of that reminded me of my shoulder seperation, and I felt similar to how I feel when I see a bad knee injury in a game. I had a league basketball game last night and a guy on the other team tore his ACL. It was awful.

  6. I think this is the entire article that was referenced earlier. In it Carroll says there is no difference between a tear and a "frayed labrum". I don't know what to make of that. http://www.slate.com/id/2100895/ Also, I found that torn labrums are often the result of dislocations, but that's not the only way to tear one.
  7. No, the labrum is part of the shoulder... basically it is the tissue around the shoulder socket. And, my understanding is that a torn labrum is, right now, the worst injury that a pitcher can suffer. Worse than a torn rotator cuff or elbow ligament. That's the way I understand it as well. A completely torn labrum is usually the result of a shoulder dislocation. No one, save the aforementioned Rocky Biddle, has ever come back to pitch after dislocating their shoulder. (I'm not even sure this is what happened with Biddle, I'm googling this now)
  8. I believe the author you reference in the first post is Will Carrol. He did a chat here- His chat There are a couple of questions about labrums. Angel Guzman had the same type of surgery that Wood did, if I'm not mistaken.
  9. Per Will Carroll: Kerry Wood continues to impress with his throwing and looks to be on track or even ahead of optimistic projections. Given the normally gloomy returns from labrum surgery, Dr. Kremchek’s repair on Wood is going to be closely watched to see if things progress differently. Did he or did he not have labrum surgery? Ken He had the surgery, but it was supposed to clean up fraying of the labrum. It was supposedly not torn, and the torn labrum is the thing that's hard to come back from because it helps provied stability for the shoulder. I'll state for the record that I'm not a professional, but this is what I think is going on from reading the reports.
  10. What, there aren't any hills in Louisiana? There are some in the Central part...but nothing major. And please don't call me a redneck from Louisiana. I'm a coon ass, sir. I don't care what you call me, just don't call me a bigot. By the way, I've never heard that term (coon ass) before. What in the world does it come from? (edited for clarity)
  11. What, there aren't any hills in Louisiana?
  12. Heck yeah, Rocky III is coming out this weekend.
  13. In Lexington? There are people in Louisville and Cincinnati who would disagree with that statement. Everybody's a hick to somebody. Yeah, but I used to be a "worse" hick- Harrodsburg. Of course, I pale in comparison to you. :D
  14. Maybe I'm sensitive, but as a resident of Kentucky, formerly of a hick town, I wish you'd say you hate bigots, racists, or anything else that doesn't denote a certain area of the country, lumping all who live there in with jerks. No big deal, just my two cents.
  15. I haven't, but he was a decent sized kid last year. I saw him pretty close in Cincy and his got some big legs. What were you doing looking at another man's legs? :? :-k Just messing..... Jealous?

  17. http://www.seatdata.com/images/mlb_cubs/170x128/205.jpg What row are you in? Still hard to tell from that pic, though. Looks like it would just be the outfield if anything, but you never know. I'm in row 12. Man, I'm gonna be upset if I could've not selected "best available" and gotten better seats than these. Well, it's really going to depend on your specific seats. And 205 is a weird area because that's where the sections start to curve. For the most part, the pillars are in row 6. If you're off to the left of the pillar, then it could be a problem. If you're just about even with the pillar, only your view of the outfield would be blocked. If I had my ticket stubs, I could tell you which numbers are where in any row, but I can't remember off the top of my head. IIRC, 205 is the last one with a pillar in row 6 and 204 has the higher up pillar in about row 15 or so. O.K. Thanks for the help, guys. I'm afraid I'm going to be blocked at least a little. This really irks me. Should I take solace in the fact that they weren't listed as "obstructed view"?
  18. This is from seatdata.com. LINK http://www.seatdata.com/images/mlb_cubs/170x128/205.jpg Thanks! So, there is a chance I'm poll-blocked. :x I sat over there for the "day after DK" game. One of our seats were blocked by a pole and we just moved around so no one had to sit there the entire game. It wasn't that bad. I just realized I spelled "pole" wrong about 5 times today! :D

  21. Seriously, anybody have any feedback on section 205. Is there a chance I'm sitting behind a poll?
  22. My confirmation came before my heartrate went back to normal.
  23. Well, thanks to some encouraging stories on here I tried again after giving up and I got in. 6 tickets against the Braves on Sat. of Memorial weekend. So, can anybody tell me about section 205? Do these have a decent view? I see where they are on the seating chart, but I've never sat anywhere near those.
  24. Stay safe, and thanks.
  25. I just won an auction on ebay for opening day at the Reds. I already had tickets to the second game, but openers sold out at Cincy in 10 minutes.
