  1. I expect them to improbably win a meaningless game and end up 13-14, just because that would hurt a little more. I think they'll get a fine DE, DT, or T in the first round, but it sure would be nice to fill some needs in FA with all this money we have. Wright fell into our laps, but if Poles could have closed the deal with the RT who went to Denver we could have taken Carter, character concerns be damned. It's just a cascading effect from sitting out FA for two offseasons
  2. Eric Washington was hired to be the equivalent of Sean McVay's OC. I can't imagne any other team would have considered him as a DC. He must have been desperate to join Flus as DC in name only - what could have been the upside for him? Waldron at least had the upside of discovering what Caleb-Ball is and perhaps being considered for head coaching jobs, though he apparently has the dynamism of a wet towel, ha. Anyway, it's hard to imagine the team who hated Flus so much finally got their wish and laid a turd in their first action turning in a more spirited performance, but I hope I'm wrong.
  3. I wonder if Michael Gus (who is better than the aggregators who are also on twitter) was saying how bad the trade was when it happened. My bet is on "no, he did not"
  4. Tough one to pick Rams looked pretty good outscoring Buffalo 49ers have had there way with the Rams if my memory is right
  5. The Searstower guy on twitter - who was around a couple years ago making predictions - said this: This past offseason, Warren wanted to replace Flus Poles argued to keep him and Warren allowed it Now Warren is wanting to be more involved in the coach hire, Poles maybe lost some credibility? Guy may be full of it, but it would explain Warren's increased involvement
  6. Can't wait for Jerry to extend McCarthy
  7. Back when Warrren Sapp decleated a bears OL and injured him (can't remember the exact play) I made the argument that a player like Al-Shaair should be suspended for however long Lawrence is out injured. It will never happen, but it feels like it should in situations like this.
  8. These plays happen so fast. Its easy to watch the replay and call out a player for a mistake, but the clicker makes everything look worse. That said, the guy is earning a reputation as a dirty player. He deserves any suspension he gets.
  9. I read that Warren wanted Eberflus fired, but Poles demanded he stay. Warren OK's Poles' decision. Poles wanted to fire Eberflus after New England game, ownership vetoed. Poles and Warren eventually convinced the McCaskeys Is Warren justified based on the above to be involved or want to sign off on Poles' choice? If true, I think yes. Or you horsefeathers can Poles and pick a new GM.
  10. I read that Warren wanted Flus gone in the offseason, but Poles went out of his way to bring Flus back (sorry if this is rehashing something alreaedy covered here). If true, I can totally understand Warren wanting final say or input on the coaching hire. Poles insisted on Flus coming back, and pounded the table to Warren; Warren acquiesced, now they're firing Poles' guy. If that means Poles should just be out instead of saying, so be it. I think he's average - slightly above average in terms of GM's. He has some bad personell misses (uyou know who they are) but he is both aware of the idea of amassing draft capital (unlike pace) and not being afraid to spend it (like Pace). In the long run we'll figure out if his scouting operation is good enough.
  11. This is the week that Russell Wilson should overtake Fields for 50% of the offensive snaps, locking in that 6th round pick assuming he reamins uninjured the rest of the season. I continue to wonder if Cunningham will ever get/take a GM job, giving us two 3rds. He turned down Arizona, was a finalist somewhere else. This seems like a shelf life type job, if you miss your window....good luck. Not sure this years Bears performance boosts his stock, ha
  12. Curious where you heard this?
  13. Isn't a 5.5 point line for the visiting team a pretty huge spread? Does home field still count for 3 points? I don't do any betting, so not sure how outrageous this is, maybe not at all
  14. What team should I switch my fandom to? It can't be another NFC North team
  15. Way to get the QB hurt in garbage time
  16. Cardinals playing their backup QB now, what an embarassment
  17. Didn't expect that. An article I read said this would be crazy Costas is low key like 80 years old
  18. My comment on page 1 of this thread discusses this as well, and I was assuming that Bates would be back to take snaps ahead of Davis. Amegadgie should always have been T4 at best (#1 swing tackle is T3). I can't imagine that Pryor wouldn't be better suited to be T3, moving out from G if/when needed ahead of Curran, but we didn't see that last week . I'd have to look at the actives/inactives from last week to see if there was no other way. The whole "best depth" statements from the team early on really make you wonder who they were watching.
  19. The idea of 9 players for 8 spots is a good one. Injury, slumps, rest are all good enough reasons why. You also get real threats available to pinch hit and play matchups later in games. I still like the idea of breaking camp with Shaw in a rotation with the infield. I did the math once on 6 games a week, 18 spaces for 3B, SS, 2B - give Dansby 5-6, Paredes, 5-6, Nico, 4-5, Shaw 3-4. The high and low sides at up to 18 each. Increase/decrease based on all the factors above. The OF/DH thing was shown above, same idea. With Cody now you add 1B to the rotation. I like it
  20. I would love to hear Eberflus say something like: "Tyrique let his teammates down, and that's the worst thing you can do as a player in this league. This wasn't a situation where he was engaged and tried his best and the other team's player beat him. He has to prove to his teammates and the coaching staff that he is serious about football and focused on helping this team win." I might add something like, "he will also find out that this kind of thing can follow you around into free agency and cost you some real money"
  21. I think your take is reasonable, but my concern from FA through the draft and now to the present is that their OL sucks. There is no cure for ****** OL, especially when they start getting injured. I'm glad that Borom and Bates are coming back, but their return along with losses of Braxton and maybe Jenkins have us treading water. Braxton was never really good enough, so downgrading/staying equal with Borom is just OK, same with Bates in place of Jenkins (to be clear I don't know that he's missing time, but until we know he's back I'm concerned). Murray was looking decent but he's gone now. There's just, no optimistic take going forward from this group....
  22. Hmmmm Flus - deer in headlights Nagy - diarhea of the mouth Fox - coachy cliche hour Trestman - Canadian from South Park/"Grow the man" Lovie - Rex is our QB Jauron - he was a zombie Wandstedt - dropped on his head many times Ditka - beloved psychopath That's enough, I have no memory of anyone before Ditka
  23. ESPN lists Jones as week to week with a knee injury Jenkins, Murray both left with injuries and did not return. Tev looked like he got bent in half on the Kramer goal line fumble. Given he's had back issues that scared me. Would be a good time for Borom and Bates to get back in the fold. Kramer was playing G at the end of the game next to Kiran, rough left side....
  24. I love the QB saying, that you have some you win because of, some you win with, and some you win in spite of. Flus is absolutely not in the first category. He's probably in the "win with" group, but the little impact a coach can have on gameday pushes him towards "win in spite of," or in the case of these four near certain wins, lose
