  1. Pretty much all this. I'll bet a bunch of Moore's money is hitting this years' cap, with two more years capturing almost all the guarantees. Allen year to year is the only way. If Allen is gone next year and Scott can be a legit speed threat a Moore-Rome-_____ trio looks pretty good.
  2. I love seeing all these clips of Fields lighting up Steelers' practices. We've seen it before, also with Mitch, then when it's game time that practice stud disappears. I have no beef with Fields, I want him to get enough snaps for the 6 to turn into a 4, but I do get a kick out of these narratives when we've seen them fall apart in the games
  3. Athletic Article on Trade Deadline Candidates had Paredes as the #2 position player: Paredes is the Rays' best overall position player and he made his first All-star team this year. he has a .355 on-base percentage and a 127 OPS+ and he leads the Rays in homers (16) and RBIs (55). He's close to an average defender at third base but can also play first and second base. Although the Rays don't want to trade him, they have to listen in case they receive an overwhelming offer that could improve their long-term future. If Paredes is traded, top prospect Junior Caminero is ready to be promoted to play third base. Paredes is under team control through the 2027 season. Just one writer's opinion, but I don't think anyone is viewing the Cubs package as an overwhelming offer.
  4. Does Giddy go on that list too?
  5. Who did we trade to get Cuas? Nelson Valequez?

Boring swing chatter warning ----- I had a lesson a couple weeks ago. I wish I could show you my impact position but imagine moving your hand gripped onto a club and then put them like 6" in front of your chest. Instructor told me to (from the backswing) feel like you're throwing a ball with your right hand underneath your left arm. Tee up an 8 iron as high as possible then hit balls with it. Literally feels effortless when you make the throw at the right time. The trick is you have to do it at 50% power. During the lesson I literally thought "this will be life changing." Repeating that has been tougher, The 50% part is what I'm struggling with. Focus of my practice right now...
  8. I think we can all agree that uniform should take the blame for a couple walks and an earned run. Take that off his line
  9. The podcast link above aluded to it, the idea that he is ready to play in structure. This should be the #1 coaching point, just watch what happens when you get it to these skill guys. Be like Rodgers and just put it on them, then watch them turn it into more yards. Eventually you play off of those plays and add wrinkles/counters. I hope the OLine looks better with someone being on time. Kyles' point really hit home for me that the players around Fields looked worse because of him. The OLine will certiainly blow plays now and then, but not to the extent that it happened for Fields. Caleb making quicker decisions, throwing with anticipation and also having more confidence in his guys getting open and being where they're supposed to be will be it's own upgrade to the OL.
  10. Dane Brugler's "The Beast" has him as the #8 receiver in the draft, 2nd round grade. Let's see if this works.... Mods, if there is a policy on using clips of articles please let me know. No intention of wrongdoing here...
  11. The biggest factor for me in picking a WR if there at 9 is the depth and succession planning. If Odunze or Nabors is the pick, the 4, 5, 6 receivers are still Tyler Scott, Velus Jones, and Dante Pettis. An injury to Allen or Moore force that group into action if no NFL ready player is taken. Yes they could still sign someone, but the pick at 9 should be better than what's left out there. The succession planning component you mentioned. Having Odunze in place for his year two with Allen's target share is a great prospect and avoids starving Caleb of weapons. I have to wonder if the team isn't going to extend Moore. With the prices of players continuing to rise the smart play seems to be to get the extension done sooner rather than later to buy lower. Even if you're paying top of market prices in a couple years it looks like a good deal. Not sure if Moore would want to extend now or not.
  12. I'm not disagreeing on the point of liking Maye more than Daniels. My take is more that NFL teams certainly have more access to information and will grade players differently based on scheme, benchmarks, etc. and they all have different opinions than each other. NFL teams clearly see things that full time media types don't see, let alone one of us. Obvious response but I had to say it, cuz Kyle
  13. You should probably just accept that regardless of where Daniels and Maye go.
  14. So 5 K's in 2IP get you a negative FIP, huh?
  15. Just like when Kramer had the beautiful woman try on the bra over her blouse! He shouldn't have listened to his caddie, Sid, I think it was.
  16. Texans trade for Stefon Diggs, give up 2025 second They gonna be stacked
  17. I'm a little surprised there is still a debate going on during the draft. I imagine the team having a pretty clear draft board/player ranking and then a group of players they might take at each pick or range of picks. Obviously they would have to react to how the board falls and have scenarios for which position gets filled with each pick, but knowing that they are still debating three DBs here with a pick they owned the entire time - no trades for 57 - surprises me.
  18. Agree. I wish they could have brought Jones back on a cheaper deal than what he got. It would be nice to have the mix of proven veteran and upcoming talent. I could see the lure of Dallas Turner or Jared Verse opposite Sweat. Would be fun to have that pass rush from both sides. In four years when Sweat's deal is up you extend the top 10 pick and keep the money side of it right. I'll still take the offense first approach, partly because I just want to know what it feels like to have a team that can run up the score with their excess of weapons.
  19. Yeah, I definitely like the idea of getting Odunze there. Some people are looking for 3T or DE, and I think we could use that, but having a top WR ready to take over for Allen after this season would be great. I really hope we don't go with too run heavy a scheme. If we're not going to pass that much it might be suboptimal to use a pick for the third or fourth target. A DL choice might be more efficient. I'd prefer a higher volume passing game and another receiving threat to just go heavy on offense for a change.
  20. And Fields' agency is pretty powerful. It's hard to get equity from a behemoth like that, but I genuinely think Poles wanted to do Fields a solid for how hard he played and how well he dealt with everything. But if there was even a third or fourth rounder out there for the taking it would have been done.
  21. I was thinking about FA signings at WR and the possibility they command more than DJ Moore. Next thought is extending DJ. The smart trend is to extend earlier rather than later to avoid the inflation. The Montez Sweat contract already ages well compared to Brian Burns. When does this FO extend DJ?
  22. I can't gauge the level of sarcasm here, but I understand that the 5 year extension Wilson signed wouldn't have kicked in until this coming season.

Since you're getting ready to get out there, I'll share the really cool side effect from my new clubs I got last year. I picked up about a club or club and a half in distance. So instead of a 7, I'm hitting 8 or sometimes 9. I play in a league at a local muni and there are a handful of not quote 350 yard clubs. I rush over after work and there's no range, so I just started hitting 5 iron off the tee. I hit more greens with 5 iron/9 iron than I did with driver and chip from trouble (or touchy 50-60 yard fairway shot. Knowing I had that extra distance let me focus on staying in play off the tee and avoiding penalties. Eventually you have to hit driver, and when it's working its awesome, but it was an AHA moment for me and it really helped my scores. Hope it goes well for you and IMB

Getting fitted is awesome. I try to convince every golfer I know to do so on a Trackman, even if they're average height (looking at you XZero77) Two reasons: First, you get the best club for you. Choosing the right clubs without being able to see the numbers is too feel based for me. Nothing's better than the fitter saying, this is the one, and knowing he's right. Added benefit here is no buyer's remorse when golf happens. Second, the confidence you get from knowing you've got the right stick in your hand is invaluable. I got fitted last year for the first time since 2015 and it really helped my game
  25. Not sure who posted it, but there was a tweet posted showing the success of #1 picks versus later picks. The nutshell version is that the #1 pick is WAY better in aggregate than lower picks. It was eye opening how dramatically better the #1 pick was. Obviously there's bias in the assessment, but that's the point. It's validating that the CHOICE of pick is the most successful and partly to your point that you only get that choice at #1.
