  1. Gotta be Lester if this one holds
  2. I'm fine with baseball being fun but it's the playoffs. Every run matters. Unlikely Baez scores from 2nd on the single to left field. I see your point, though
  3. same Oh, and eat a dick, costas I want Strop to pitch tonight and then whip Bob's ass

I am addicted to golf but have difficulty getting time away from my wife and kids to play. My wife wants me to teach my kids to play. My daughter is left handed but plays field hockey right handed so I'm not sure how to approach teaching her to play. My youngest son is 7 and I'm not sure if that's too young. based on baseball, he's pretty coachable but he gets frustrated easily. He's right handed but bats lefty. Teaching the kids to play would allow me to play more but I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy that. My oldest is 6 and teaching her how to play now would be nearly impossible. It makes me think that Earl Woods must have been a sociopath. I would try to get your daughter to play right handed if only for equipment availability. I'm planning to try to play with my kids and get them lessons so we can just play together.

  8. Huh? Why would they do that when they are the only network in the country broadcasting the game? Yeah, I'm not sure jumbo realizes those blackouts don't apply when the local RSNs don't have the game. Thanks, guys.
  9. FS1 has UFC stuffs that night so I imagine that's the problem. Maybe MLB shot down being on FS2? MLBN always gets a couple of playoff games regardless of whatever else is going on. They did last year too but both of them were AL games. No way they blackout the playoffs, right?
  10. I actually kind of am. My niece, my nephew who both would be bummed if I didn't go. Have friends from different circles coming, plus a girl I invited who is really excited to go. I'd be a lame friend and a horsefeathers uncle if I bailed. Congrats on the sex [bbvideo=560,315]https://giphy.com/gifs/l0HluN8PywCl6Hckg/html5[/bbvideo]
  11. If there is one encouranging thing about Pace's drafting, its been his picks outside the first round, as well as UDFAs. But you can't swing and miss on multiple top ten picks. Not that its too late for them to turn it around, but eaely returns are not promising, and there was plenty or criticism at the time so its not just 20/20 second guessing. Regarding his coaching pick. Yea, he went safe. Pro personnel? He did a good job at his two ILB pickups. Outside of that... pretty meh over both years. Isn't that basically the exact same flaw as Angelo? Good with late round picks, terrible with high picks. My memory of Angelo was that he would zero in on a player, then during his media sessions tell people that they had intelligence that the player would be gone before their next pick, so they pulled the trigger to get the guy they wanted. I'm sure other FO's picked up on this and gamed him for years, laughing at him taking players 1-2 rounds early (or at all in some cases).
  12. Man, you are sofa are observant. I didn't notice either the first time through
  13. It came from a nickname for young, promising players. So technically it started as species non-specific, but I think the bear connection has been pretty well established retroactively. Because I'm a Cubs/Bears pyscho, my in-laws bought me a book on George Halas. In it, the claim is made that he named the football franchise the Bears because that was a grown-up version of the Cubs baseball squad. Maybe wrong, maybe right. Halas was a University of Illinois graduate, which is the motivation for the Bears colors being blue and orange. The more you know (rainbow rainbow rainbow)
  14. One game at a time, Ding Dong

  16. Assuming Fowler and Chapman go FA, players under contract are: C: Contreras, Montero (Schwarber if we're lucky) IF: Rizzo, Zobrist, Russell, Bryant, Baez, LaStella/______ OF: Schwarber, Almora, Heyward, Soler, Szczur SP: Arrieta, Lester, Hendricks, Lackey, Hammel (assume the option is picked up) RP: Rondon, Strop, Edwards, Grimm, Montgomery, ______, ______ Zobrist Bryant Rizzo Contreras Schwarber Russell Heyward Almora I could also easily see Schwarber in front of Bryant and letting Contreras slide down to the fifth spot. Almora hitting 8 with that top 6 (7 if Heyward comes back to life) is palatable. Still pretty stacked.
  17. You and I are different people. I instantly thought of a miracle comeback. Same
  18. Heyman was on with Mully and Hanley the other day (or some show on the score) and he said it's one of these three.
  19. Especially on a Friday night when I watched the games while pre-gaming and by the time it was over I had a solid buzz and it was time to go out. Now I give it a 50% chance I'm awake when the game ends. And to think I used to make fun of old people for not being able to stay up until midnight I have a 50% chance to be awake by the third inning
  20. I'm close to the SBCubs. Work just a couple minutes from there. PM/email me if you have ideas for outreach to the club.
