  1. Um...holy good god damn! Go Prince! I have always liked him ever since Reed Johnson robbed him of a home run, and he followed suit by tipping his cap. He seems way less of douche than say, Ryan Braun.
  2. From what I've seen he hits a lot of line drives, has a great OF arm, but has a Tony Gwynn like physique which will obviously limit him as a player. Seems like his issue is inconsistency. Inconsistent performance, inconsistent approach to the plate, etc. I guess he never watched a lot of Sunday Night Baseball.
  3. I really, honestly, have to tip my cap to Hendry on his offseason thus far. I dislike what he has done in the past, and I wouldn't be sad to see him go, but he is doing a fine job right now.
  4. Oh boy. I am excited for this season to start! Goonies is off of our team, which makes us better. Nice trade!
  5. or not
  6. Pats are gonna score a touchdown in the next 3 plays.
  7. You really stopped watching football for 3 years? Do you live in America? The Packers are really good but the Bears are 1-1 against them this year and the one loss this year was 10-3 to the Packers in a game that meant nothing to the Bears and everything to the Packers. We did play our starters that whole game though. Yep, stopped watching completely. The last game I watched before this one was last season's opening day versus the Packers I believe? Cutler didn't look too good, and the wounds hadn't healed yet. As odd as it sounds with Grossman as the quarterback, and a relatively weak offense, the super bowl loss was a swift kick to my nuts that gave me internal bleeding.
  8. So, since I have been out of football for a few years, how good are the Packers? Do the Bears have a chance?
  9. Man, I haven't watched much football since the Colts spit on my dreams a few years back. I am sorry I gave up Bears. I love you Cutler!
  10. Hold the phone! I thought we hired that stats guy with the webpage and all?!?
  11. Gorz can't make that much. Isn't Fukudome one of the only ways to shed some salary?
  12. About that... Garza falls into a similar category as Greinke and Gonzalez in terms of breaking the Cubs' budget. He might be under the Cubs' control over the next three years, but he doesn't come cheap. Can we trade Fukudome for DeRosa purely for fan appeal and superficial awesomeness!?
  13. Is every team opening up on April 1st this season? I am excited, but bummed it is a Friday.
  14. Are they checking to see whether the third player is still alive or what? Get on with it already!
  15. I think you're right. We'll have a very deep rotation, should have a very strong back end of the bullpen, and the offense is hard to tell because there's been so much variance with guys like Ramirez, Soriano, and Pena, and guys like Castro and Colvin don't have much MLB history. I think this team is built in the vein of the 2008 team. Not that it's going to win 90+, but it's built to minimize weakness, and if you aren't going to have a Pujols or a Lincecum on your team, that's not a bad way to go. In the vein of the 08 team is exactly what I was thinking. Solid up and down... a hole or two we have to fix to get to that level, though. Would love an upgrade at 2B, but that's not being talked about at all... and I hate that Colvin is in the everyday lineup. I'm actually interested to see how a DeWitt/Baker platoon works out at 2b. It surely can't be worse than Miles/Fontenot.
  16. .... let me guess, you are pissed because you think we gave up a lot? I'm not pissed, but yes, barring the other two players from Tampa being good the Cubs did give up too much. That's the kind of package that should go for a better player than Garza. I disagree. I think you over value our prospects just a tad. Yes, our system is on the up tick, but still not devastatingly potent. If Kansas city were to give up the same ranked prospects within their system, then I would be peed off and breaking things. We did a 5 for 3, and greatly improved our rotation in the process. The biggest point of this trade working for us is found in our system still retaining its best young players.
  17. Gonna have to agree with this completely. I love this trade right now.
  18. .... let me guess, you are pissed because you think we gave up a lot?
  19. Wow. I am kind of getting excited for the season now! We are going to make a run boys and girls, where it will lead no one knows.
  20. I wish we had an ace. For an organization that seems to pride itself on farm grown pitching talent, where is our ace? Garza is a difference maker, true. He would greatly improve our rotation, true. I am still hoping our own number one will show up soon. Maybe that kid we drafted last year in the first round that had everyone stumped will manifest into greatness.
  21. Apparently, an unnamed team official said Webb may not be able to pitch until July at the earliest. If there is a slight bit of truth in that, I am glad the Cubs are pulling back.
  22. Other than the Pierre trade, name the prospects you are sorry he traded away. I never said I was sorry about former prospects being traded away. Where did you get that from? I don't have any strong connection to any of the new ones being traded away either. I only view Castro as an untouchable right now. I don't understand the need for clarification, but there it is.
