you don't think he will be just as good or better next year? I disagree with goony, I love Chad Johnson's antics and I hope he gets more outrageous next year. But in his defense, I don't think he was questioning Chad's abilities, I think he was just saying he's tired of his celebrations/other antics.

Dear 1/3 of the Holy Trinity, Do you like Kelly Clarkson? Who do you think is the best pitcher in the game, and the best position player? Any thoughts on the Marlins fire sale, round 2? You've seen Juan Pierre play a lot more than any of us have. Is he a sparkplug that makes things happen and puts the fear of KENT in the hearts of pitchers while he's on first base; or is just an average at best centerfielder that the Cubs overpaid for? Is Bob Brenly as much a ladies man as I envision him? If you were a closer, what would be the music you'd enter the game with? Has this gig given you new celebrity Cubs fan friends? ie Bill Murray, Billy Corgan, Jeff Garlin...and if it's Jeff Garlin, have you asked him what was the deal with season 4 of Curb Your Enthusiasm? Not a question...more a favor. Next time you're broadcasting a Cincy game (opening day!!), if Kent Mercker comes out of the bullpen to pitch, could you acknowledge that Kent still has MANY loyal Cubs fans still supporting him? It'd mean a lot. Good luck in 2006! -

Huh? Post All-Star, Hairston's line was .241/.303/.329. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this, but I bet Hairston's game where he made 2 great catches in center is what made the Cubs brass feel he had a good second half, and is great at catching the ball.

Todd Walker for Ryan Freel? Don't wanna get rid of Todd, and he's better than Freel, but Freel's OBP plus his versatility would be nice.

wood's problem is that he had to go out and strike out 20 during his rookie season, which everyone then started expecting from him every time out. one of the reasons that wood had TJS is because of that 20 k game. now, since he hasn't struck out 20 in a game in like 7 years, people are giving up on him, despiet the fact that he's a very effective pitcher. the primary wood detractors, imo, are the ones who expected him to duplicate his 20 k performancence--and were extremely let down when he hasn't. a 20 k game is lightning in a bottle, only 1 other pitcher has ever done it--it's simply unrealistic to expect woody to do it more than once. Slight nitpick, 2 others have done it. Clemens and Randy Johnson.

I guess I'd be ok with it. Wilson is solid. Why did Hendry re-sign Walker though last season if he's so awful? Surely these issues didn't just pop up last season.

It was his first game back from suspension, actually. But Tressel still didn't decide on who would be his starting QB. Smith got some snaps that game.

The flaw in this comparison is Troy Smith did not play against Texas. Not only that but lately OSU installed more of a spread offense. What you saw yesterday was not the same team that Texas saw the first game. ND's defense did get whooped worse by OSU offense than they did USC's. Texas has as good an offense as OSU. They should score some against USC defense. What QB played for Ohio State? Justin Zwick. (he sucks)
