  1. put him back in his cage to watch porno
  2. ha. i hate mcgwire too, especially for his "not gonna talk about the past" nonsense at congress. but he's a hall of famer, unfortunately.
  3. And I think someone who is a pure slugger, and a damn good one, is easily hall of fame worthy.
  4. As if Citizen's Bank is Griffith Stadium or something? That place is more of a bandbox than Coors these days. Coors was 10th in baseball in home runs this year. Thank you. I was scrolling down trying to find out if someone would post this, otherwise I was going to. The effect of Coors on Holliday's totals has been wildly overestimated when you consider that Rollins plays in a similarly hitter friendly park. Even more ridiculous is the fact that he wasn't even the best shortstop in his league, and this shortstop happened to play in Pro Player  Wonder what Rollins' number would look like in Pro Player... :-& rollins at citizens bank: 300/336/556 rollins at dolphins stadium: 341/404/659 Not trying to start an arguement, but how many games did Rollins play in PP, and who did he hit against. It's like saying Player X had a career line of .315/.408/.495 at Wrigley before being signed by the Cubs, problem is he played 8 games there and hit against Cubs pitching. With the Cubs he put up .265/.335/.406 at Wrigley. Now, that's a made up player, but I've heard things like that mentioned on enough Cubs broadcasts in my life to make me cringe. oh, i know. i don't think rollins would be nearly as good with a full season in pro player stadium. but in rollins defense, his home/road numbers aren't that different. still not close to mvp-worthy, but i don't think playing in philly had a HUGE effect on him this season. i just thought rollins split at dolphins stadium was interesting.
  5. If it has anything to do with getting Fukudome, or betters the chances of getting Fukudome - Kaz Matsui is not going to hurt this team. but what if fukudome sucks?
  6. That's why he struck out in 25% of his AB's.... yes yes, I know he walked out alot, but of course that totally had to do with his batting eye, not pitchers pitching around him or anything. would you have voted reggie jackson in?

  8. but my point is why punish him for being great at the most important dimension for a position player? mark mcgwire's main purpose for a team was to either get on base or slug the hell out of the ball, which he did very well. and he did win a gold glove, for whatever it's worth. i mean, are hank aaron, ted williams, jimmie foxx, etc. too one dimensional?
  9. bert blyleven was one dimensional, all he did was pitch. ops+-ing 162 is a pretty nice one dimension.
  10. i'd vote for the goose, tim raines, mark mcgwire, and alan trammell.
  11. i guess i'm cool with a 1 year deal.
  12. so what are you going to do now that you have no ass?
  13. If the Cubs had signed him for that deal, this board would have melted down with the people who hated the deal. Many people on this board don't like committing a decent percentage of the payroll to the bullpen to the first place. They also don't like multi-year deals for relievers. They also don't like signing guys in their 30's to long-term contracts. Finally, many think the position of closer is overrated to begin with. Cordero fits under all of the above, and while he'll likely be pretty productive he's not productive enough to be that big of a percentage of the Reds overall payroll. What? You are talking about a team that was 29th in baseball in blown saves last year. A blown save can occur pretty much anytime a starter leaves the ballgame. Most are not necessarilly even the fault of the "closer." Ya think? The Reds issue really wasn't closer last year. Weathers was 33/38 in saves. However, this allows the Reds to move Burton to the 7th, Weathers to the 8th, and Cordero to the 9th. It lines up the middle innings nicely. That's the point. it's also possible that a bigger problem for the reds last year was the pitcher's work from innings 1-6.
  14. they're probably going to regret that deal.
  15. before we sign him to more than 1 year and more than 1 million dollars, let's rememeber that just last year wood missed the first 4 months of the season after slipping in a hot tub. 24 innings of pretty good relief work doesn't justify a big contract.
  16. i think paying 3.25 mill to ensure glendon rusch doesn't pitch for the cubs was a very fair price.
  17. Major OBP improvement, whether it comes from CF, RF, SS, or wherever.
  18. according to revised zone rating, GMJr was actually the worst defensive center fielder in the american league last season, and i think dewan's plus/minus system ranked GMJr among the worst last season too. torii hunter was slightly better last season defensively, and in 2006, they both equally sucked defensively. though interestingly enough, in 2006 coco crisp was the worst defensive center fielder according to revised zone rating, but in 2007 he was the 4th best. so who knows.
  19. let's trade for juan pierre so when we play the brewers we can run all day on him.
  20. is there any doubt now that andruw jones is going to get that huge multi-year deal he wants?
  21. ::sees that gmj can bat left-handed:: *gulp*
  22. hahahaha are you serious?
  23. you do this in a lot of threads that doesn't even make sense.
