  1. i'm excited for the devil rays stadium that looks like a sailboat.
  2. He'll play. and win super bowl mvp
  3. the last thing this offense needs is ryan theriot playing every day.
  4. maybe one day mvp 2005 will be backwards compatible on the 360 and i can play again.
  5. no one is going to throw a complete game shutout for the cubs in 2008.
  6. maybe since the nl hasn't seen him yet we can get something out of him for 40 or so appearances.
  7. pedro's 2000 season should have there with pedro's 1999 season. i think pedro's seasons are the best of all-time. he put up much better numbers than sandy koufax, and that's before you adjust for league, era, and ballpark.
  8. i'm pretty sure he meant to talk about khalil greene and gonzalez
  9. it kind of is when you could get equal production for 10% of the cost by giving the job to gallagher. the lieber signing alone isn't going to break the cubs. it doesn't really improve them either. but you combine lieber's 3.5 million with dempster's 5 million, marquis' 6 million, eyre's 4 million, and blanco's 3 million that's around 21-22 million that could be easily replaced by cheaper players and spent on 1 or 2 very good players. jon lieber was a pointless signing. it wasn't a horrible signing that's going to cost the cubs the season, but it's jim hendry's usual pointless signing done for the sole purpose that he doesn't trust rookies to fill less-important jobs. How could you know that? oh crap, sorry. i meant sean marshall.
  10. I would rather give the Padres something like Murton and Patterson/Colvin/something for Greene and let DeRosa play 2nd. I would too except I don't think the Padres would go for that. Who would play SS for them to replace Greene? jack wilson, who the pirates traded to the padres in the what-if scenario.

  12. way to address the cubs glaring problem, their #5 starter. sean marshall can give 180ish innings at a 4.5 era for the league minimum. jon lieber is a pointless signing.
  13. Why? Why is it so upsetting to everyone to get 100 innings of league average production from the 5 spot as opposed to 200 innings of below average production? seriously? where are the other 100 innings that lieber can't go coming from? also, i don't think it's written in stone that a fat, oft-injured, 38 year old lieber is league average. Probably not average, but #5's don't have to be. one of our rookies could be a below average #5 for a lot less money, if we're going that route.
  14. He was quite average 3 years ago. Now he's injury prone and bad.
  15. jason marquis > jon lieber. don't know about dempster. lieber is injury prone and not very good. pointless move if true.
  16. bad kermit is my xbox live friend and i don't think he'd lie about this!
  17. i'll take the bengals
  18. the writers will probably assume he juiced, and probably rightly so. i don't think he's getting in even if he reaches those milestones.
  19. wrong. No, you're wrong. He's lucky he played in the era of the all glove, no hit SS. He's probably one of the most overrated players of all time. No. If anything, he's underrated now due to contemporary emphasis on SS offense. In what way is he underrated? What about that line is HOF worthy? .262 .337 .328 (2,460 hits) his .978 FP doesn't strike me as all that spectacular. He played with a lot of flash in an era of non-flashy players. you should know better than to use fielding percentage. come on. average career hitter (and actually a productive hitter for his position when he was in his early to mid 30's) + what amounts to AMAZING defense at one of the most important defensive positions in baseball, i have no problem with ozzie being a hall of famer.
  20. wrong. No, you're wrong. He's lucky he played in the era of the all glove, no hit SS. He's probably one of the most overrated players of all time. He's got a WARP3 of 139.1. The only SS with higher WARP3's in the HOF are Wagner(210.7) & Ripken (169.3). Banks' is at 123.4. I think Ozzie truly is a person who drove in runs with his glove....those win shares had to come from somewhere, because they certainly didn't come from his bat. where do you find a list that sorts warp3 all time? the only way i've found warp 3 is by looking up each player individually on baseball prospectus.
  21. wrong.
