  1. ME ME ME
  2. oh good Lord. i hope this doesn't become a popular sentiment. i might seriously go crazy if that happens. i'll give eli manning this, him avoiding that sack againt about 7 patriots and throwing it for 40 yards was the biggest 'holy s***" moment i've see in super bowl history. that'll be a super bowl memory to last.
  3. good job eli and the giants
  4. why do the reds always insist on having 3 catchers?
  5. no matter how much we think otherwise, jim hendry sees ryan theriot as a competent shortstop and probably our long-term solution at that position.
  6. even though he's gone and the season was a horrific disaster, this is my favorite "in the stands" video from the cubs ever. it's so perfect how the crowd explodes with the crack of the bat. i get goosebumps every time i watch it.
  7. In Cincinnati: Cubs (many many times. at least once a year, usually 2-3.) Pirates (once in the early 90's) Braves (once in the mid 90's) In Milwaukee: Braves (in 2005) In Wrigley: Pirates (mid to late 80's, I barely remember it) Brewers (2003) Astros (2004) Marlins (2005, Ryne Sandberg's jersey retirement day!) Cardinals (2006) So I've seen the Cubs, Reds, Pirates, Braves, Brewers, Astros, Marlins, and Cardinals. Or half the national league. I've yet to experience an American League game.
  8. yeah, sean casey really wants a world series ring. or maybe it's a chemistry signing.
  9. only fitting that he shares that number with the greatest cub of all time, moises alou.
  10. jesse jackson has condemned the backround checks http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3224312
  11. I'll be shocked if either are correct, but if it helps other by eliminating possibilities...
  12. well done xzero.
  13. Not this decade.
  14. in his first minor league at bat, too? if so, it's now who i was thinking of.
  15. Nope.
  16. NOTE: This fact may have changed by now, but I remember reading this on a baseball card. Who is the only person to hit a home run in their first major league at bat AND their first minor league at bat?
  17. who said they were random? we haven't a clue what they're factoring, how much weight they're giving it, what they're omitting, and still it's used as gospel of a player's true value. it's laughable. i guess i'm more critical. what statistic do you prefer that gives an estimation how much a player is worth? not just hitting, but value for their fielding, and baserunning too. none exist yet. not even close. you could consider all the aspects of a player's game and make an educated evaluation with all of the incomplete information you're presented with instead of lazily trusting another self-proclaimed expert to do your thinking for you. it's more fun too. based on coco's past success with the bat before a severe hand injury, his excellent defense, and good baserunning, i think he'd be a good fit for the cubs and worth trading for. happy? nice caveman avatar, by the way.
  18. i WATCH the games so i don't need those fancy numbers i don't understand telling me who's a good ballplayer.
  19. who said they were random? we haven't a clue what they're factoring, how much weight they're giving it, what they're omitting, and still it's used as gospel of a player's true value. it's laughable. i guess i'm more critical. what statistic do you prefer that gives an estimation how much a player is worth? not just hitting, but value for their fielding, and baserunning too.
  20. any reason why we have so much faith in a statistical manipulation with which we have no idea the formula? because i don't think baseball prospectus lies and makes up random stats?
  21. 2 years and 10.5 million for a very good defensive centerfielder with an 8.4 warp3 is very fair.
  22. The Cubs and the Padres will play in the final Hall of Fame game on June 16th, in Cooperstown, NY. It's an exhibition game. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=txhalloffamegame&prov=st&type=lgns Can't wait for someone to get a season ending injury in this game!
  23. QFT. Look at all the others incriminated. What did most of them do? Keep quiet, admit it, or give a stern "This is a lie" quote and be done with it. Clemens is going through way more than he needs to be doing to defend his so-called innocence. Press conferences, televised speeches, and now a stat report? The more he fights it the more guilty he looks. And from what I've heard he's now bringing in other names to the argument. In that report doesn't he make comparisons of his stats to Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling during his alleged use period? He's trying to smear their names in the mud with his own. At least that's what I've heard. Roger Clemens has very quickly become the most annoying POS in baseball over the span of 1-2 years, and it all started with the "is he or isn't he" BS. Now it's this crap. What a tool. that's lame. when people accused of steroids don't call press conferences, present stats, do interviews etc. people assume that means guilt. then roger clemens goes out of his way to defend himself (not that i believe him, but he's doing what i'd do if i was wrongly accused of something) and now people assume that means he's guilty. hell, when the mitchell report first came out and roger didn't make a statement immediately, i heard the sports radio morons say that means clemens is guilty, because if he didn't do any of that stuff he'd come right out and defend himself. so 1 or 2 days pass and clemens issues a denial, and in the weeks that follow he presents his case that he didn't use steroids and puts a lot of effort into it, and now people say he should shut up. he can't win no matter what.
  24. my scout sources said maybe this offseason he can get his fastball up to 83 mph! Unless you two want some time off, I'd suggest you two stop being jack asses and drop it. i'm surprised ass isn't blocked by the word filter. MY APOLOGIES MODS AND BASEBALL238932
