Is the trade really more than Chris Archer and a backup AAA level catcher, a potential Jason Bartlett who hasn't played above lo A, and a potential fourth outfielder? After Archer, and a certain extent Lee, the other two guys are filler. You have to give up something of value to get something of value. Thats one way to spin it. I think Lee is gonna be a bit better than Bartlett - but even if he turns out to ONLY be Bartlett - that's still a very valuable piece. 6 team-controlled years of a starting SS with a good glove has a lot of value.

Forget crash Davis, if we can get Darren O'Day i'd be elated. Dude has really turned into a good reliever. He was money for Texas in the playoffs. Plus maybe we can start up the Darren O'Day chant....Ohhh'day o'day o'day o'day ohhhday ohhhday.

My own little story.. He was in Peoria a few years back signing autographs with the proceeds going to JDRF I believe, and I took my Santo Jersey to have him sign it. He was there with his son who had made the documentary the year before. He signed my jersey right on the zero on the back, and took a picture with me. I told him that he was one of my heroes growing up and that I wore #10 growing up playing 3B in Jr High and HS because of him. He seemed touched by the sentiment even though I’m sure there are 100 others out there who had told him the same. This just..i don’t know..it sucks. Today is so hard. You could tell he was such a genuine guy, wore his heart on his sleeve, and cared about the Cubs and Cubs fans so much. GD it, lets win it all in 2011 for Ronnie!

Just miserable news. My heart absolutely breaks for him, his family, and the Cubs organization. RIP Ronnie, I'll miss the [expletive] out of you.

I know I hate Notre Dame, but seeing them go down in that fashion was tremendous. Just think tho, if that gets botched...how bad is D'Antonio gonna get ripped?

No, he's not valuable. He's not hurting the team, but he's not valuable. A player with no value would have a WAR of zero (or negative, if you assign a >0 value to replacement-level production). Soriano's WAR is not <= 0. This wins. -
If Z's pitching 5 days from now on Monday, then why not have him go at least 2 innings today, get 30+ pitches in (instead of 17), and start stretching him out some?
