  1. This leaves Daytona with just 23 players, 12 pitchers (7 relievers plus Cates/Wells/Burke/Francescon/Kirk), and 11 hitters. There will likely be a couple more bodies heading to Daytona soon. So Larry Suarez pitched for Daytona (up from EXST) last night, so there's your pitcher. And I thought I read Yaniel Cabezas was sent up to Daytona as well (giving them 3 catchers with Krist and Davis). Raisin - you know better than me, whats our obsession with having 3 catchers on a minor league team? AA has 3 catchers now too, and for a while, so did KC (Contreras, Escobar, and Cabezas). No idea. At least in KC and Daytona, you have a DH too. With little knowledge of any of these guys other than Contreres, could it be that they don't care so much about the catchers as prospects so much as they're having them follow relevant pitching prospects who have had success with them at other levels? thats possible I suppose. And i guess i didnt think of the DH. Often times at EXST, the extra catchers they have DH.
  2. When you put it this way (correctly), its almost staggering.

  4. Wasn't he just drafted last year and played like crap in Boise? wut might be a sink or swim kinda thing with more bodies coming in via the draft in a month.

  6. Agree with this across the board, with the exception that i doubt we'll be able to move Scott Baker. He stole $ from us.
  7. I'll watch, but only because I'm a massive glutton for punishment. I am a Cubs fan, after all. Go Cubes?
  8. Ever get the feeling that some of the guys answering these chat questions don't know anymore than you or I and are just reading stats and passing along someone else's scouting reports?
  9. For me its either Alcantara, Kyle Hendricks, or Willson Contreras. Also really like Rosscup's K ratios, but he's just a lefty reliever.
  10. I wouldnt..because I think Manaea's a hurt. And I've got a feeling what we saw in the Cape Cod league isn't coming back.
  11. Was at the KC game tonight. Almora's first hit was single to right, the second one was fluky chopper over third that he got 2nd when he hustled, and then another hard single in the 7th. Looked smooth in CF too. Vogelbach's double was crushed. If you've ever been to Peoria, you'll know there's a well just to the right of CF. He hit it off the wall there. Probably 405'. Jeimer hit the ball really hard a couple times too.
  12. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ros&cid=446&stn=true&sid=t446 Any idea why the KC COugars site continues to list Trey Martin as "active" when he clearly hasn't played in a month. He can't be on their "active" roster?
  13. This [expletive] sucks. Was really excited about Conway. Trib had a thing in the paper today that Conway has a stress fracture and is gone for the year. GD Brewers.
  14. LOL Hearing Keith try to talk about Twitter made me want to club a baby seal.
  15. boy Lendy Castillo really has sucked this year hasn't he? All the way down in Low-A after being a rule 5 guy last year. What a disaster.
  16. Guillermo Moscoso is up from extended spring training and will make the start. Was cruising right along until giving up a massive HR right now. 6-1 Iowa in the 5th.
  17. Saw Manaea today in Bloomington-Normal. I was watching some of the scouts guns the first 3 innings, never saw his FB hit higher than 93. Still, thru the first 5 innings, he cruised. His secondary stuff looked good and he was getting a lot of swings and misses. Struck out 9 through the first 5. 6th inning though, it fell apart. Leadoff runner got on via catchers interference, next guy got a bloop single, then a 3 run BOMB of a home run to right center that wasn't ever in doubt. After that was a single, a walk, then Manaea picked a guy off of 2nd, then a dribbler down the 1B line that went for an infield hit, then a HBP and his outing was over. 4 runs ended up scoring that inning. So the line looks bad, but he honestly looked pretty good despite the 6th. Of course, you're looking for a lot better than "pretty good despite..." when you draft top 5. I've seen a lot of college baseball, and I would say overall I wasn't that impressed.
  18. any word on what pitcher got axed from AAA?
  19. Lillibridge being cut, I'm guessing. few days ago you admonished me for suggesting that Lillibridge be cut from this team before Gonzalez. The old "because he's better at baseball than Gonzalez" argument. I didnt think it was true then, and neither do the Cubs today. I'm not saying Gonzalez is any good, just less sucky.
  20. Why are you so bothered by the fact that I don't like Pat Hughes? Opinions on stuff like this are subjective as hell. I can't help the fact that the way he calls a game frustrates me sometimes. bothers me too man. A lot more the last 2 years. I kinda feel like Moreland's dragging him down. Just beyond sick of their worthless things like "when you score a run, you really wanna throw up a zero the next inning" (as if you dont wanna throw up a zero every inning), and "Coming off a loss like yesterday's, you really want to get out to an early lead" (when don't you?). Just stuff like that...really bugs me. And it bums me out because i used to REALLY like Pat. Big Cubs win.
  21. anyone else really getting tired of the Batman TV show talk? Good god.
  22. Yeah i heard that too. Cut that sh*t out Pat, stop making excuses. He sucks, and he's gonna get DFA'd in about 96 hours. I doubt that. I don't see any reason to keep him over Alberto Gonzalez. I don't see any reason not to. I see what you did there. In my opinion Gonzalez > Lillibridge. Can play SS too. I've yet to see anyone prove to me Lillibridge is better.
