  1. Josh Vitters 18/40, 3 2B, 1 3B, 2 BB, 7 K, 0/2 SB, 3 E - .360/.385/.460/.845 Isn't 18/40 a .450 batting avg...Maybe its been to long since my last math class...Or there is a typo in the number of at bats
  2. What I don't get is why Colvin was playing right field in the minors...They only way he starts in the pros is to play center field...Unless they believe the other guys they had done there are better prospects longterm in just doesnt make sense to me...I was glad to see him get called up even for just a cup of joe...
  3. What is the story on Chris Robinson? A catcher hitting .333 at triple A...I see by the stats that he doesn't have much power but still...I guess I worry that Soto will either eat or smoke himself out of the league
  4. If there is one thing Milton Bradley and Latroy Hawkins have taught me is that not all players can perform up to their average stats when playing for the Cubs...Some players just cannot respond to the pressure...
  5. If they are going to put pitchers on there with arm injuries than Mark Prior has to top the list...Nothing against Miller or Anderson But Prior was a much bigger bust IMO...
  6. Question for you guys on Cashner...Does he have the control and + secondary pitches to move up to Wrigley? If a player is showing it at AA they have a chance to see some real action. I'm just wondering if his good stat lines don't tell the whole truth about his command... Otherwise...DFA Heilman
  7. How about Huseby? Could he at least crack Daytona? Huseby is 22 right. I thought he was a high ceiling guy a few years ago...Does he longer have the "stuff" to move up through the org?
  8. Question for you guys? Where does our scouting and development rank in MLB...And no matter how good or bad, how could it be improved?
  9. This is a good topic to bring up..Can plate discipline be taught.. Maybe if walks and a high obp is valued maybe we should have drafted that to begin with.... BTW, how does TC's stats compare with Luis Montinez career in the minors...
  10. Good for the Kid....Making it to the show after a lot of struggles through our system is agreat thing...MAybe we should look at our development program, or perhaps the kid is just a late bloomer and is finally showing something. He always had good tools he just couldn't make contact. congrats Luis
  11. wow wow....Lets just hope he can be a major league regular.....To many cub high draft picks didn't even make it to the show...Cpatt would be a successful cub pick based on how we have drafted.
  12. IMO Lee is player that should be batting 5th. He's a good player but is not a slugger to be batting 4th and is just not good enough to be batting third.. If the Cubs trade him in the offseason it would selling him at a good point to get some value. Of course you have replace him and that is going to cost the Cubbies major cash and of course our farm system has little options. how about DLee for Matt Cain....?
  13. Vitters is hitting over .330. What is his timetable for this season? What more important better competition with Peoria or to have some success in Boise?

  15. that because the system is filled with fringe players...From Grace to Soto...The Cubs have had a horrible time drafting / developing position players...
  16. From Grace to Soto......You would think by luck alone we would have better hitters....It's interesting to me that some organization develop hitters and some cannot...We have been able to develop decent pitchers but something is lacking on how we draft and or develop these hitters. I'm not sure if we just fall in love with "tool" guys that cannot make contact. Or if our hitting instructers just cannot teach this concept... Nothing against Vitters but I just don't understand why we would draft HS players in the first couple of rounds...It would just make sense to me that if you are going to spend 2 million bucks on a signing bonus why not have a better sample size...Three years of college and playing against better competition just seems to make sense... I understand that some players project to have higher ceilings in HS but the competition just isn't there. Also, because college players are older and more developed, in theory that could start off in high A ball as opposed to rookie league...Meaning they are closer to the Major leagues...Why not help the Cubs in 3 years as opposed to six....
  17. This is the problem with the looking at stats compared to watching the games....If you can replace Theriot with a Better player fine but you have to realize that without Theriot playing ss last year we probably do not make the playoffs. Theriot is probably a a utility guy but he is one of those players that makes things happen. If he goes 0 for 3 but leads off the 8th there was a good chance last year that Theriot gets on base. The Cubs over the years have had a lot of players who have had better stats and make a lot more money but disappeared when the game is on the line. There should always be a spot for a guy that is busting his you know whats every play. That type of play can fuel a team.
  18. I wouldn't get to stressed. I think I remember the cubs putting Z in the pen for awhile.
  19. I'm 33. I grew up on Sandberg, Grace and Maddux. I never saw Jenkins, Banks or Santo. So (big build up) in my opinion Sammy Sosa has been the greatest Cubs player that I have ever seen....Regardless if we sign or don't sign him if he is released I think it is a shame and a blight on the Cubs if he is not welcomed back with open arms. Steriods who cares! We have all cheered and aplauded his ability to hit the baseball. He made a couple of stupid mistakes at the end of his Cubs career. Big fricken deal! Sammy is an all time Cub!
  20. What about Scott Moore...? Jake Fox caliber chip in my opinion.
  21. What is the status on Guzman....? If he were healthly the trading of Hill/Marsh/or Marmol Could be easier.. I have not seen Gooz in the minor league box scores so he still must be hurt...Does anybody have an update on him?
  22. Lofton should have been resigned after the 2003 season...Leadoff guys might be the hardest thing to find in baseball....Bat him 2nd or 1st who cares...He makes stuff happen...At least the Loften I remember did.
  23. How about Murton and Mateo for Dye? Too much to little? I know people are in love with Murton but I just don't see him getting a far shot with the cubbies
