  1. Why overpay with prospects for subpar talent.....Huff Wilkerson kearns We have our own subpar talent in Patterson, Put him in rightfield or Sign J.Jones or P.Wilson....I know people don't like these guys but it has to be better than trading away our chips on marginal talent
  2. What about Walker and Williams for Vidro....If Vidro is healthy that is
  3. It might be to late for that...What is he worth now? a bat and a bucket..? Agreed. I have a vision of Patterson becoming great somewhere else. Somewhere else. Not here. Trade him before his value drops any further. At least now you can still see that he has tools and some talent. If he has another bad or awful season, or a season in which he doesn't play, he'd barely get a bucket of balls in return.
  4. The talk is Huff or Kearns, Why not CPatt...Those Guys had off years and we want to trade for them? Give Cpatt another shot...He's 26 and had a horrible year but has a ton of talent.....Use the farm and upgrade SS or 2b. I think trying to change his game and make him a leadoff hitter really hurt him....
  5. I hope they keep Cpatt and put him in RF or LF....I would like to see him develop in the 6th or 7th spot in the order......I think corey still could hit 30hrs this year I would like to see him do it with the Cubs....If he fails bring up Pie.....
  6. Who knows how he would have pitched for us last year...The Braves made a good trade at that time....It didn't work out but on the day of the trade it was looked at like a good move.... By the way the Braves still made the playoffs....
  7. Don't get eveyone upset now.....this is no place to be funny..... OHMY GAWD, how could they trade Dewon Brazelton?? He was Tampa's #1 prospect, you can't trade a guy like that!! He was at the top of BA's prospect list, that is the bible, they're never wrong. Tampa is stupid and overpaid. if youre going to be insane, at least be insane in one thread, instead of letting this garbage spill over into other places it doesnt belong. I see that sarcasm escapes you.
  8. I bet they are just saying this to be cautious...Unless he has a setback in ST I'll bet he will be close that first week or so...Of course I wouldn't use my money to bet with....
  9. Lugo must cost to much so they are in scramble mode to fill shortstop... watch and they will settle with Cedeno and Nefi for ss and 2b Now that we have a leadoff man, they need a #9 hitter.
  10. I like Santo for the same reasons....When the Cubs screw up Ronny is all pissed off...I like that. Is Ronny a conplete idiot, yes...I hate when the Cubs give a late inning homer and our anouncers just keep putting on the Sugar and tipping there hat to every third rate pitcher.... just my opinion but the worst announcer has to be Sutcliffe.....I hate him worse than even Joe Moran....Everybody is the best and does eveything well....I can't stand those types of people there is no glass! You had me until the part about having to like Murph. He's an idiot.
  11. he also said that they're targeting milwood. offman knows nothing about baseball, and he's right there. Ofman first reported the Pierre story a month ago saying that it would likely include Pinto. So, um, he may know a little something. The anti-Score sentiment here is pathetic. The SCORE is pathetic. Most talk radio is pathetic.....rackem.......But Murph is a real fan so you have to like him....
  12. True, maybe he had an off year. No because he walks. Alot. He's had over a 100 BB's in a year. That doesn't happen with this team. I don't care how much he K's if he leads off and gets on bace at a .360-.380 clip that's ALOT more RBI chances for Lee and Ramirez.
  13. Can that be right...147 ks and a .248 avg....throw in a couple of trips on dl and he would fit right in with the rest of the Cubs...
  14. I wish him the best....Kind of wierd how somebody just loses it.... can you say Mel Rojas...
  15. What were Wilkersons stats last year. I don't recall that he had a great year...Darn fire wall at work....
  16. OK...Spend the money on Furcal use the prospects you saved by not tading for Lugo and ship them to the Phillies for Pat "the bat"or another team to get an outfielder... If the cubs have a leadoff hitter and a RF who could give you big productions you could keep Patterson and wait to see if he could still develop, hitting 7th of coarse... Furcal is better but not much. When you add in the fact that Furcal makes about 8 million more than Lugo will, Lugo is the better player for the money. Enough said. Lugo G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2003 TB 117 433 58 119 13 4 15 53 35 88 10 3 .275 .333 .427 .760 2004 TB 157 581 83 160 41 4 7 75 54 106 21 5 .275 .338 .396 .734 2005 TB 158 616 89 182 36 6 6 57 61 72 39 11 .295 .362 .403 .765 Furcal G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 2003 Atl 156 664 130 194 35 10 15 61 60 76 25 2 .292 .352 .443 .795 2004 Atl 143 563 103 157 24 5 14 59 58 71 29 6 .279 .344 .414 .758 2005 Atl 154 616 100 175 31 11 12 58 62 78 46 10 .284 .348 .429 .777 From what I gather you are saying that Giles and Furcal were the only two players we could have gotten to help our team. If you save money by not signing Furcal and getting a SS close to the same caliber for 8 mil less you then have 8 mil more to spend on the rest of the team. This would then mean you can make your team even better.
  17. Lugo Wilkerson and Huff would be nice additions, especially now after losing out on Giles and Furcal.....I just wanted the Cubs to be aggressive and drive the Market to get the "Top" players... BTWWhat are Huffs numbers compared to Burnitz last year? Pretty close? I was working in Jacksonville last summer and watched a lot of D-ray games over dinner.....Nobody impressed me on that team....
  18. Sorry if you were insulted...But why settle on players in the second tier every year.....Why not and overpay for Furcal and Giles in this case...Maybe then we could use the farm to fill in the gaps on the bench...Why pay Nefi 2.5 mil or a Hollandsworths type player 2.5 mil to be your backup players....I think they should spend the money on impact players and just use roster fills or AAAA guys as the 5th outfielder Whatever you say joker. You don't know me or what I'm satisfied with. I happen to think those players would make the Cubs better and put a winning team on the bench. Don't presume to think you know what kind of fan I am. If you do want to insult me, piss off.
  19. Do you work for the Tribune company?..... Listen, Lugo might be fine but at what cost in younger players? And he is still making a lot of money..Do they want EPAtt? Why are you worried about cost anyway...It has been mentioned that before FA started the Cubs had 30mil to spend...I don't see how they are going to be able to spend this money even after they overpayed for the relief pitchers....There were a couple of impact players availiable in free agency and the Cubs didn't get any of them....They dropped they ball on the secondbaseman from the marlins and now they are in sramble mode......Remember the only world series you can win is the one in 2006......... Furcal is better but not much. When you add in the fact that Furcal makes about 8 million more than Lugo will, Lugo is the better player for the money. Enough said. 20. Win, and I will be happy................Adding average players or below avergaes players will not put us over the top.....Obviously some of you will be satisfied coming in third....You are what people joke about when they talk about cub fans..... its ok to lose as long as I am paying 6 dollars for my beer....
  21. It sounds like you would be satisfied with another losing season....Give me a break people.... Don't some of you at least actually want to win...Not Just 83 games either...Actually win.... I'm Sorry but losing out on Furcal and being happy with Lugo. That sounds like a losing season to me.... Lets just all be happy by bringing in average playes after we lose out on real impact players..... Just Sad... Kearns or HUff or Wilkerson = Hope for Lightning in bottle =2007

  23. Why would you say that...Nomar And Walker were the starters going into last season....Both are slow and are future DHs....Maybe you are trying to be funny...?
  24. grea post.......I sure am tired of this crap.....this has a big chance to be a real crappy season......
