I'm okay with this hire. Feels like the Cubs aren't sure they can compete the next couple years outside of young prospects developing quickly, so might as well give Quade a shot and save money in the process.

That's the hope I have as well. Hendry has to be working on more than hope that Joe wants to come to Chicago. Refuse to believe he's that inept to be waiting around for a hail mary try at Girardi.

Yea, it's a bit of a semantical argument with the 'not a fan'. I personally don't see it as a black/white issue, but the vast majority of the time I'm against it. At the very least life is prison no parole etc.

Especially a 1 year deal which still leaves us a chance to get Gonz/Fielder Why would Konerko sign a one-year-deal after the year he's having? Right. Kind of my point as well. Weird fear to have for us to sign Konerko for 1 year to play first.
