Knowing Goodell simply being associated with such an incident could be grounds for suspension. I'm not going to be totally at ease until he's on the field Week 1.

Seriously. I was certain his NFL career was over. Must be that delicious 41.8 QB Rating he turned in last year. He's up there with Jonathan Quinn and Henry Burris as worst QBs to ever wear a Bears uniform.

That Denver game really ruined what had been a decent season for Barber. Bush is obviously a pretty big upgrade though.

Is it common for players to get suspended for assault? Seems like most suspensions come from DUIs, PEDs, gun charges, etc. Unless Marshall's supposed victim has assembled a large group of people who witnessed the alleged punch, I don't see how it becomes anything but a "he said, she said" situation.

Really though he's just agreeing to one more year, so you get to do this again next year. Yep, and really it will probably all start again in three months when the season ends. Despite self-proclaiming himself as loyal a billion times in the press conference, he sounded like he was all-in for this year only, which means that another early playoff exit will likely mean the end of it unless Otis can make some big off-season acquisition. At least we bought more time to negotiate.

I don't think we overpaid for Campbell because of Cutler's injury, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a little concerned about the thumb. I'm no doctor, but permanently losing flexibility in the thumb of the throwing hand for a QB who throws as hard as Cutler does is at least worth monitoring once camp starts.

Like the Campbell signing as well even if we did overpay a little. All of this is going to make it suck a little less when Dwight Howard is traded in less than 48 hours.

I still might take a WR in the 1st though, depending on who's there when our pick comes up. Bennett/Knox shouldn't be any better than our 3 and 4.

There is a difference between being replaceable and not being that good. Forte is a top five RB. The fact that RBs have a short shelf life or that the Bears had decent production out of their backup RBs should not take away from the talent this guy has. He's not a Hall of Famer, but he's still an elite back right now. I agree that he is probably replaceable, but only because of the position he plays. To say he's not really that good is ridiculous. It's just been too long since we've had football. When Forte was running through defenses you all marveled at him, repeatedly clamoring for the Bears to pay up. It's easier to make these sort of comments when you haven't see the guy play in four months.
