  1. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/23/orton-may-try-to-discourage-chiefs-from-claiming-him/ Orton is apparently threatening to not show up to the Chiefs if they snag him from the Bears.
  2. Sounds like the Chiefs are the only team standing between the Bears and Orton.
  3. At least now I can sleep at night knowing the Bears finally won that trade.
  4. http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/7268940/chicago-bears-jay-cutler-surgery-wednesday-sources-say Cutler to have surgery tomorrow.
  5. Probably not. It's more wishful thinking than anything. Then again, they're hoping maybe by the GB game, which is just 31 days. I'm going to jump on the sulley wagon of optimism for the time being. Kyle Orton's 2005 season is giving me hope right now. Led the team to the playoffs with a 59.7 QB rating, a number which I'm confident Hanie will at least be able to replicate. Our O-Line was obviously better then. We basically have the same defense only older and probably not quite as good. That said, we have Forte, Hester, and Peppers now, all of whom weren't on that team. Like others have said, if there is any team that can still win after losing their franchise QB to injury, it's us.
  6. Which would imply that he broke his thumb out of anger. Sounds to me like a media plot to further highlight what a horrible person he supposedly is. That said, there are several signs that point to this being a less serious injury than we're led to believe. Assuming he gets surgery before the week is out, I'm going to go a step further than Lovie and say he returns on the 18th against Seattle.
  7. So in other words, 4-6 weeks as opposed to 6-8. I'll take it. I wonder when we can expect a definitive date for surgery. Let's hurry up and get it over with so he can begin healing.
  8. Hoping to be back before the end of the regular season is pretty much the best news we could have realistically hoped for today. Also, haha @ Broncos fans. I'm sure they were looking forward to their "Christ vs. Satan" matchup with Tebow and Cutler.
  9. Don't worry, if Cutler doesn't break his thumb forcing that guy out of bounds, he probably scores and it's a 4-point game. The game then changes completely and we easily could have lost. He died a hero.
  10. This does make me feel better. We obviously weren't getting better than the 5th seed with Cutler anyway. The Bears first playoff game would be January 7th or 8th, which is exactly 7 weeks from now. Hanie should be able to keep us above water until then. Cutler played like crap in the Carolina, Tampa Bay, and 2nd Detroit game, all of which we won, dominating the latter two. We'll be fine, but we should obviously continue hoping the injury is less serious than originally thought.
  11. I think it's funny how everyone is running with the 6-8 weeks timeline when the Bears have not disclosed the particulars of the injury, including the exact location of the break and whether or not for sure he needs surgery. Jim Miller apparently said if the break is closer to the joint, he wouldn't need surgery and therefore wouldn't miss 6-8 weeks. Still no word on the Bears site about the injury either. My kingdom for this being an internet hoax or at the very least an extremely exaggerated injury.
  12. Why is everyone assuming we're racing Dallas for a WC? If the Giants lose tonight Dallas moves into a tie for first.
  13. Stafford with two picks already today. It would be fantastic if he becomes the next Rex Grossman.
  14. Not feeling too good about today's game. Hope I'm wrong.
  15. One more reason to hate Tebow: lack of algebraic understanding Yeah, because every other NFL player is masterful at algebra. :P
  16. That sucks, although it's not nearly as upsetting as the Williams injury. Carimi showed he could play, but I don't really think he would have improved the RT position over Louis right now. Granted it would have been some much welcomed depth, or they could have put Louis back to guard, although he has been much less effective there. Hope he rests up and comes back healthy for 2012. Get another piece or two to go with him and Williams and we could have a, dare I say it, an above average offensive line. We're going to really see what Tice is made of now. I think Ed Williams will do OK at LG, but our depth is completely gone (Frank Omiyale is not depth). Hopefully they can get some rookie in here quick and develop them like they have Webb and Louis.
  17. Damn, injuries are slightly curbing my enthusiasm for this team right now. I'm afraid of what the Williams injury is going to do to the running game, and Moore is one of our best playmakers on defense. San Diego has some weapons on offense. This could be a letdown game. It was starting to feel like we weren't going to lose again, too.
  18. Waiting for the inevitable Cobb >>> Hester posts from Packers fans...
  19. You mean Roy Williams, right? Please? :(
  20. The Williams injury sucks, but perhaps we can get him back in time for a playoff run. Considering how soft the remaining schedule is, I think the Bears can get by with a bit of a hole at LG. Then again, no holes in this line can be taken lightly.
  21. It's no coincidence that the dirty [expletive] didn't really start until the game was too far out of reach for Detroit. You would think a team that is so used to losing wouldn't resort to such horrible sportsmanship. The Lions just need to go back to a being a 0 to 3 win team. Everyone was happy, except for maybe Detroit.
  22. Is there a more classless team in all of professional sports right now than the Detroit Lions?
  23. Now THESE are the Lions I know and love.
