  1. If this happens I will be convinced the Rickett's are clueless.
  2. When you have a organization that is a joke from top to bottom management-wise players have no respect. Z is a baby for doing this but the owner created this mess. He let Hendry stay, and hired a terrible manager with a even worse staff. It's the bed made by the owner and now he's got to sleep in it. Such a shame Cuban wasn't allowed to buy the Cubs.
  3. Seems like a Throw It Against The Wall And See What Sticks deal. Whatever. Kouske wasn't going to command much and he wasn't going to save the season. It's a wash.
  4. Hendry did a lot of good things in the past with moves but his drafts have been pretty terrible. The contracts bug me the most about Hendry the past few years. Was the Soriano contract on Hendry? I've heard different stories on that one. The Fukudome deal was a gamble and didn't pay off, same with Milton Bradley.
  5. Would Sandberg really want the job if offered after how it went down last year? Wasn't he pretty ticked off that he wasn't hired? I know he wants to manage but I don't know if he'd come back to the organization after getting passed over. Quade should have never been hired in the 1st place. I'm not saying Sandberg is the savior, but it's clear that the Cubs went on the cheap and thought the end of last season with Quade in charge was a glimpse into the future. So many things worked against Quade. Hendry, injuries, and slow starts. Then throw in some strange managing decisions by Quade (letting Hill hit at the end of a game, not pulling Marmol...those are recent things) and there you have it. I don't know what the Cubs should do but they need to just blow it up and start over. A new GM and a new manager after the season would be a good start. All I know is what's out there now and in the front office isn't working.
  6. I'm grown to pretty much hate this entire team starting with the owner all the way down. Keep Castro, Barney, Wood, and Marshall and blow the rest of the team up. I could care less about the rest of the guy at this point.
  7. You can't see getting much for a guy on pace to hit 30 HR who plays excellent defense and has a good OBP? He's 33. What do you see the return being? He strikes out a ton and has a low average. That common for a power hitting like Pena but do you think teams will give up much for him?
  8. I wonder if feelers for Z will be sent out now?
  9. I can't see much in return for Pena at all. Same for Soto. Would that mean it would be Hill and Castillo from here on out? Yuck.
  10. Ah, look at all the silly signings Ah, look at all the silly signings GM Jim Hendry Picks up the paper to see what free agents are there Both eyes are closed Points at the paper Finger lands right on A Miles Get on the phone All the silly signings, where do they all come from? All the silly signing, where do they all belong? Owner Tom Ricketts Signing a manager who saves him some cash Quade is here Here comes the intro Hendry is grinning, Quade said "This is a dream come true" What a nightmare All the silly signings, where do they all come from? All the silly signing, where do they all belong? Ah, look at all the silly signings Ah, look at all the silly signings GM Jim Hendry Wanted to pay for big bat for left field Soriano came GM Jim Hendry Opened the wallet and said how bout 8 years? 136 million wasted All the silly signings, where do they all come from? All the silly signing, where do they all belong?
  11. Too bad the Cubs minor league system has been broke for some time. The prospects to choose from are pretty bleak. They have a LONG way to go to get to the Red Sox level. Oh...and some good talent was shipped for Garza (who's been pretty average so far). Hendry gone may help but I am not a fan of how Ricketts wants to improve this team. They need free agents at this point. Not rookies. Not a single word of this post is accurate Sorry you were wrong. Only because you went through and dissected each point I made that you YOU asked me to provide...I have no choice but to concede this argument. So you honestly think this Cubs have top talent in the minors?

  13. Or people would respond. \:D/
  14. Is this team watchable? Is Wrigley full?
  15. Depressing from top to bottom. Blow it all up. This owner, manager, and GM sucks to high heaven. Remember when Hendry blew the team up after they last made the playoffs?
  16. A Gon had more to do with it that Bartman ever did.
  17. Soriano playing with purpose. Way to earn that paycheck. I hate this freaking team.

They need free agents at this point. Not rookies. Garza has actually been really good. It doesn't reflect in the w-l, but that's an irrelevant statistic for player. And simply coming in a throwing a ton of cash at a bunch of FAs might make some people feel better for a while, but it's the sort of nearsighted, reactionary thing a fan would do if they were in charge. It's the sort of thing that got us in this mess. We want this thing turned around in a season or two, but that's just not feasible, particularly given the state of affairs when they took over. Garza's ERA isn't great. It's not terrible, but it's nothing spectacular. I don't dislike Garza I just don't think that trade was the best considering what was given up. Guys are going to come off the books next year (Aram, and Fukudome) so they will have cash. I see no problem with going after Fielder and trying. Ricketts seems to say he won't even try. Pena won't be back and Colvin is struggling. I don't think Baker is the solution at 1st since he's needed as a platoon guy. Not sure what the options would be inhouse. Call up LaHair? No thanks.

Show me how Garza isn't just pitching average overall. Was Archer not one of the top Cubs prospects? Tell me why Ricketts saying they don't need Fielder or Albert at 1st next year. Hendry gone won't help the Cubs? Why are rookies going to make the Cubs better going forward? Have you been impressed with guys outside Barney as everyday players?
  20. Didn't he get a 10 million dollar signing bonus when he was drafted?
  21. What's the point? Gotta clean house and let a new GM bring in a manager.
