  1. He's been absolutely un-hittable so far in the big leagues.
  2. I'm actually a bit surprised that the FO is considering bringing in a guy like Latos. Things seem so great in the clubhouse right now, I would be careful to keep it that way. Maybe they figure things are so good that Latos would be rendered doucheless. It's pretty hard to get into it with people that are super happy and optimistic.
  3. From Wikipedia: "The couple own a cat, named Cat Latos." That right there trumps everything else that you guys are saying. We have to get this guy.
  4. Okay, yeah, you're probably right. At this point his value is probably quite high after all the recent publicity.
  5. The chances of Schwarber being completely wasted as our backup catcher are zero. He's either gonna start at catcher, start in left field, or get traded for a pitcher. I read that to mean Montero becomes the backup catcher. Plus it answers the question of the thread accurately when read that way. I wasn't necessarily making any statements about Montero. I think if we are in the playoffs this year, Montero will have to do the catching. Next year, maybe they try to split Schwarber between catcher and left as a transition like davell said, I dunno. Basically, I was speaking long term. Long term, Schwarber is either going to be our starting C, starting LF, or a trade piece for a pitcher.

  7. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/rankings/organization-top-10-prospects/2011/2611106.html I just stumbled across this article and felt like I had to share it. My, how far we have come.
  8. How much is Schwarber gonna get blamed for our pitchers getting shelled?
  9. I think he's more like a small bear, but yeah.
  10. What if someone had told us in the off-season that our infield would consist of Schwarber, Rizzo, Russell, Castro, and Bryant by July?
  11. We have enough to trade for just about anyone in baseball if we made anyone/everyone available Oh, I'm aware that we HAVE the players. Realistically, we could probably put the best package together out of any team in the league. It's just a matter of who we are willing to give up. I wouldn't give up any of our elite prospects for two reasons: One is that we don't have to, because we can easily sign a pitcher in the off season and avoid giving up any players. The other is that this isn't really the year. Next year is the year.
  12. Did you even see what Detroit gave up for him with an additional year of control? I actually couldn't remember and had to google it just now. Wow... that makes me a little more optimistic. If we could get Price to agree to an extension that would be sweet.
  13. Do we even have what it takes to put a package together? I'm thinking we might be better off just waiting until the off season so we don't have to trade anything but money. I don't think I'm comfortable with trading really any of our valuable young guys. Boy, a Price/Cespedes packages would really blow my mind, though.
  14. Soriano had a 2.6 WAR as recently as 2012? That's sort of a cool fact.
  15. If Baez pans out and turns into a stud, that would really be the icing on the cake. We could stick him at 3rd (or wherever, depending on how we shuffle our infielders) and move Bryant to LF. Just imagine that lineup. I'm totally rooting for the guy.
  16. http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/baseball/iowa-cubs/2015/07/18/javier-baez-chicago-cubs-iowa-minor-league-baseball/30354181/ So I guess the best case scenario now is for him to get a few weeks in at AAA and then come up in September. Hopefully he rakes and is able to make the team next year.
  17. And if AJ Pierzynski breaks this up... I am going to the liquor store.
  18. I wonder how much bonus money is on the table for Lester right now.
  19. Post some food, it's cathartic. Anyone else love Greek food? Is that place in North Dakota? I would love to find a GOOD gyro here in Chicago. I hope I never eat another Kronos again.
  20. You've got to be kidding me... This kid is amazing. Please learn how to catch.
